I'm all about research...But to save you a little trouble I'll say that 2k2 is right- most people that have dynoed the Borlas have experience either no gain or loss...Check out www.i-m-racing.com to see what's out...Yeah, it's a lazy way to search for parts but I'm tired and about to get offline and don't feel like typing too much...So see what's available, research the components, then draw your own conclusions
BTW, if you're just adding up the company's claimed peak HP gains and thinking that's what you'll get, stop that...It's "ricer math" and not how it works

Well, I can see that you've picked up on Injen's claim's for HP gains on the intake and exhaust, which are a weeeeeeee bit on the high side of creative marketing. They don't produce as much as Injen claims, even though I love both products. The borla header's don't make power, David borla is on record for having said his G/Z header will only make 1 or 2 hp. Don't waste your money on the Borla for such a punny gain, look at what it'll cost to install to. If you going to spend a dime on headers get either the Stillen, Nismo or Crawford headers. The best way to get a idea of what kind of power gains you will FACTUALY get from mods is to go to my350Z.com and spend a couple hours running search's and wading through lots of threads. They have lots of discussions and posts with dyno's that will give you a real picture, not marketing hype.

Man, I tell ya in researching the aftermarket on this car and of course the Z, creative marketing is a mine field to get past. It's in HP claims and suspension stuff.

Re: $1000 EXHAUST AND HEADERS
Don't do any headers until you've swapped in high flow cats. The stock cats are further "downstream" and a tighter chokepoint than the stock headers, so aftermarket headers can only speed the flowthrough so much. Plus headers are about the most expensive piece to install other than turbos (and if you're installing turbos, I don't think you'll be using the headers). The only reason I haven't done cats is that I don't think I'd like the sound (from the descriptions I've heard) and there's some questionable legality to it, even the emissions approved ones.

Re: $1000 EXHAUST AND HEADERS
Ok Here is the deal:
1st: Borla's headers are terrible : they add no more than 2 hp and lose about 2 hp (depending on which dyno you look at at). So, it's a total waste of moneyl.
2nd: Remember that you will have to pay a lot for the installation of those headers , so make sure to pick the right ones.
3rd: The right ones: Stillen (best price/performance ratio and a VERY respectable performance gain), or Crawford (Also VERY good performance gain - but are much more expensive).
4th: You almost HAVE to get high flow cats with headers to uncork their performance, as well as a good exhaust (read "Stillen" exhaust).
5th: The most you will ever get from a Headers/cats/exhaust comobo (according to some of the dynos done by Doug and my own observations/experience) is about 25 hp at the wheels.
EDIT:
6th: Expect to pay about $2800. That's $811+$450 (labor) for headers, $900+$80 (labor) for exhaust, $500+$80 (labor) for RT cats. Subtract $200-300 if you get a cheaper (Borla) exhaust.
I just want to tell you what my opinion is with respect to what you're gettign yourself into.
Good luck
