Re: Buying headers? Install issues...

The dealer that did my OEM LSD swap told me they had perfected a technique to do header installs that involved lifting the engine up a bit. At $550, they can keep their little technique to themselves. I can get it done cheaper elsewhere thank you very much. Still haven't installed my Nismo headers, sigh.

You do not have to lift the engine or tilt it. However the space is tight. If you have it done for you by a shop figure it will take about six hours of labor, at their rate per hour.

Re: Buying headers? Install issues...

my headers were done by a shop it took him two days to do it and it took him a total of nine hours. i paid 600 to have them installed. Its not worth the 9 hp to pay 600 bucks for. Just my opinion

I know the endevour (spelling?) is pricey but in the end i think that it will be worth it because of the benifit that it will give to the other parts that i have installed. Also thank you for the link. How does the car sound now that you have put the heads on it? thanks

do high flow cats first.. they will make more power.. when you ahve done everything else and are starving for more power.. then do headers..

we charge 300 for header install..

the stillin headers and nismo headers are very simmlar when we hold them side to side..

on a car planningon going turbo...

no...

on a supercharged car...

no...

on a NA car...

YES...

On a car with Camshafts...

YES...

I am in the process of posting new NISMO engine parts on my web site as we speak...

Some of these things will make installing cams well worth it...

Re: Buying headers? Install issues...

You don't need to lift/tilt the motor to install the headers... Just a little time and patience... I was able to get to all mounting points from under the car; a lift is a must.

I wrote a full feature in last months issue of Car Sound & Performance magazine on my Borla Headers and Exhaust install. In a nutshell, I gained over 15ftlbs of torque from as low as 3500rpms and 10hp gain in the mid range. Low end was not affected, and the top end numbers gains were marginal.

Oh, did I mention that the sound is AWESOME… we tested a few different intakes, but the best performance was had with a K&N air filter and the Z tube.

What if you had a supercharged or turboed car with camshafts?

Thanks - Joey Avino
