Exhaust Trick...

Saturday night I was driving and for some reason my nav was telling me that it was unable to complete route. So I decided (while driving) to cut the ignition off and turn it on again. After I did that, the car was backfiring everytime I let off the gas... shifting and coasting (in gear). When I was driving home after all that, the car didnt do it... So I decided to test the theory.. and it did it again. Today I tried to again and it did it aswell. Anyone have any experience with that?

I've done it in my SI and gotten the same response. It's like a a little mini backfire. Wouldn't dare try it in the G though!

Yea, some trick..........!

I used to do that kinda stuff when I was a kid, just scares little old ladies off
the freeway.....definately childish and probably not good for your car!

so let me get this straight. you're making your car backfire by turning off the ignition while driving and letting off the gas? why? because it's unsafe and potentially bad for your car.

i dont think that im being clear on how its doing it... i only shut the car down once while in motion and it backfires all the time when shifting and letting off of the gas... i dont keep shutting it down to do it... all it takes is once.

I think they are trying to tell you that backfire is not good for your car...not the restarting it while moving part.
