Question Exhaust Questions

Hey,

A friend of mine just recently got a G35 Sedan and he asked me if I could find him an exhaust. After reading this section for a bit I just had a few quick questions.

He wanted something that wasn't *too* loud but you could tell it was aftermarket, a lot of people seem to like FI & Fuji. Of these two, which would best fit? He more wants along the lines of a Cat-Back as he doesn't want to do headers/TP/DP/Cat work yet.

Also, if he was to go to order a exhaust, do some exhausts only fit the Coupe versions or Sedan? Is that something he needs to be on the lookout for?

Thanks

I would suggest to change the muffler and put any aftermarket muffler without touching the resonator. Im not sure how loud is "too loud" for ur friend but if the previous suggestion is not "Loud enough", then he can always get the coupe resonator to make the sound more aggressive. As far as muffler goes u can go with stillen, hks, or magnaflow muffler.

Search for HKS rear section. It is basically a muffler, but is supposed to sound great.

Coupe and Sedan exhausts are different. The midpipes can be interchanged though.

The available true duals out there are pretty loud and drone pretty badly. I don't know about the HKS rear section though - never heard it.

At FI - they tried to get the system off the ground, but couldn't get a local in the shop to help test and template a system. Out of more than 8 or so attempts, we did not like the sound at all, and had 1-2 more things to try....but again, never got anyone to step up.

Sorry - not much help for you. where are you located?

Rick

Are you guys still considering making it? What are you looking for? I believe you said you wanted an unmodded car. I only have a z tube, took off the resonator from the air box and a Skunk 2 spacer. I am pretty sure I have the stock parts (except for the plenum bolts) if you wanted to put them on and the Skunk 2 is on with gaskets (no silicone goop). I am going on vacation soon and could let you use it for about two weeks. Let me know if you are interested

Give Tony a call...it's completely up to him. I know it's a project they would liek to do, if demand and support is there.

Ideally - yes, the car needs to be completely stock - no spacer or intake mods - it's the only way to fully trust the dyno results.
