Flexible Exhaust Pipe

Do we need the flexible section of the exhaust system? If I replace the flexible section with solid pipe would it hard on the exhaust manifolds since I am connecting the twisting engine straight onto the fixed exhaust? Please help

from what I understand, the flexible exhaust couplings are essential to a vibration-free ride. You will notice that a lot of the premium cars have these while cheaper cars do not. Nissan made a big deal when they announced the new Altima that it had dual flex couplings and hence made for a smoother engine idle. I would not mess with those at all.

I have managed to scrape some of strands from the flexible pipe section and was wondering if that is detrimental and should be replaced? I have not noticed any sound difference at all.
