I'm thinking about going with a custom exhaust

find out exactly what he has in his system! This maybe a hassle when it
would be sooo easy to just order a dual system from Stillen or HKS!

Ok yes I have a true custom exhaust. I have magnaflow mufflers and 4 sebring tuning tips. The guy who did mine does custom bentleys and all of 310 Custom's exhaust systems for the high dollar cars. They also work on the regular joe's cars. I paid $950 for the exhaust. www.aaaexhaust.com I think he quoted another guy who has oval quads $1100 there are 5 of us to date with quads. FI did a quad 350 just after I did mine.
I dyno'ed 1 hp less than Gary(G05C) he has an 06 mine is 03 same mods he has FI, at the time I had like 64,000 miles also.
We both have drone but at different rpm's. The only thing I would have done different is the welds could have been better and used different pipes to dress it up. Pepe from aaaexhaust.com has been doing exhaust longer than most people on here have yrs. Don't get caught up in all the hype, everybody thinks they are better than the next guy. Bottom line you should be happy with what you spend and like don't get talked in to anything.
At the end of the day it should be what you want................Don't worry about being Flamed.........

There's nothing overkill here..sorry. Knowing what you are buying and the technology behind it, is really important for people to know. Don't you want to know what you are buying, and why, ultimately?
I would want to answer, and know the answers, to any question I could be asked of my car mods, if asked. It's how we all help each other here, and learning is how we cna all make better decisions on those mods.
There is one single thing that makes the HKS different that other systems - it's very complex, and has more devices and pieces of technology than any other system - and it works very well and sounds great, for those who like the sound it puts out.
A dead-chamber is not a muffler - however, you can always argue that ANY device in an exhaust system is a muffler - even the pipe itself, as it has a level of effect on sound and flow as the mufflers do.
The classic definition of a muffler includes a device that not only absorbs pulse, but also reflects and/or deflects it as well. Resonators only absorb, dead chambers capitalize on reflection to cancel out noise, and mufflers to it all.
I don't disagree that anything that affects sound in an exhaust can be categorized as a muffler - but technically - based on how the device affects pulse and flow, is what would categorize it as so.
So - in all terms you can also say that a CAT is also a muffler. It affects sound and flow, does not reflect or deflect, but has those principles in place. However, those principles are side effects for a device meant to clean the exhaust from noxious gasses. They were never designed to tune an exhaust - only to clean it.
