HFC & Emmisions help.

I have been researching HFC for several days now. Many say HFC will NOT pass emissions. I understand they will not pass the Visual inspection, but most shops seem more concerned with cars passing the exhaust emissions. I do not even think they will take notice to the HFC anyway unless the car fails. Question; Will HFC pass the strict exhaust emissions standards placed in NYS. I would like to hear from people who have HFC & took their cars for inspection.

i passed with testpipes. as long as you dont have a check engine light, you be alright.all they do is plug in OBDII ,to your car, to check diagnostics. make sure you use spacers for the O2 sensor to prevent the CEL.

Non-foulers (spacers?) are normally for test pipes, not HFC's...

You wont get a CEL with HFC's...at least with Fast Intentions. I don't know of anyone who has either...one who did, messed up the O2 sensor itself during install.

Also - HFC's and testpipes, are meant for off road use only - not meant to pass smog, etc...even though they can/do in many cases.

Most people keep the old CATS and swap at test time..less fines or issues.

Keep your old cats. I would swap them if you were very worried about not passing emmisions or visual tests.

Swapping/installing cats isn't very difficult as long as you have the right tools.

it's easier if you have a lift.

install for cats is only 40 bucks (for both, total), anyway.

DIY = Fun

$40 for cat install is pretty cheap though.

Wonder if it'll pass here in Chicago. This mod won't make my car go around smogging up the environment will it? I don't want to be driving around blowing smoke or breathing gas fumes everywhere
