Re: K&N CAI installed

Hahahah.. ya, when i got my NISMO CAI installed, i did my ECU reset on base in the working stalls... all the marines and sailors on base that walked by looked at me like i was high on drugs cuz i was dancing on my pedals...

was too involved in getting the damned timing down i forgot everyone around me was staring...

Re: K&N CAI installed

Has anyone with a K&N typhoon short ram (sedan) sys. tried
the $40.oo heatshield that comes with the JWT Pop Charger?
I love my Typhoon! I would how ever like a heat shield because

Re: K&N CAI installed

Just out of curiosity, which of the reset methods did you do. I let K & N use my car for thr prototyping of that kit. They installed one for me & I have always had a little flux / rough idle. I had done the reset sequence via the gas pedal, as well the as the following 2 in the sequence, throttle position & idle air volume, though that did not seem to help. It's not bad or anything, but I would like to improve it. Did you simply yank the battery, which I have not done since they put my CAI in, in October, or did you do the above 3 sequences, or even just the first of the 3 which is just the reset? I just keep forgetting to undo my btty overnight one night & am always in a rush to get out the door in the AM, & never want to fuss with it since I leave at 6AM...

Thanks.

Re: K&N CAI installed

I just finished installing my Typhoon. I decided on the short WAI for now until spring when the fine weather returns.
I've not started the car yet to listen and test. Will do that tomorrow.

I did the short ECU reset (timed), but have done the battery disconnect occasionally too.
The battery disconnect method is made easy by this shut-off that I installed. A half turn on the **** is all it takes. Saves fiddling with wrenches, and wear and tear on the clamp.

Re: K&N CAI installed

Unfortunately, there have long been known problems with some CAI's stalling on the 6MT's. Though I have not checked, I thought the K & N's were only marketed as being available for the 5AT's. I could be WAY off on that, as I certainly have not checked recently..... But, going way back to the early Injen's the 6MT's had major stalling problems.....

Re: K&N CAI installed

Yeah, the K&N is actually has only been tested and OKed on the 5AT. I don' think they've figured out what's giong on with the 6MT. And it's random, not every 6MT will stall. I'm not sure what's going on either. I'm getting mine in a week. We'll see what happens with mine.
As for price I'm getting it for $200. But it usually runs more than that. If anyone is interested, let me know. I'll see what I can do.

Re: K&N CAI installed

Bob, I concur with your power range statement. It growls like a mustang above 3300rpm.

Bob, Jason at Performance Nissan said there is an adaptor you can buy that will allow the PC to fit.

Re: K&N CAI installed

Biscotti, I have the short ram version and it is awesome. I've never had it stall and the sound is amazing. Pardon the filther pic. Jason from Performance Nissan took the pic right after install.

Re: K&N CAI installed

I'm going to be selling a never installed K&N typhon short ram. I should have a classified ad created in a few day's.

Re: K&N CAI installed

FYI: The North Texas G35 club recently had a Dyno Test Day
@ VSV Performance in Carrollton (Dallas) Tx. Two bits of info
to share, (1) the Short Ram sys. (a). makes more top end hp.
(b). makes less torque.
(2) the JWT Pop Charger "heat shield" will adapt to
the K&N Typhoon cai/sr sys. a side note, the
under hood intake noise ( musis to some of us )
is much less.
I hope this answers some questions for a few Sedan Owners.
