Pop Charger Filter

Hey, so I finally got my pop charger and ztube today and I'm gonna install it tomorrow. I was wondering, does the filter come pre oiled? and if not how much oil are you supposed to put on it?

Also, I read a bunch of posts and looked at a bunch of pics about the heat shield. But I'm not sure if I have all the edge trim for it. Here's a pic of it and this is all of the trim that I got. Thanks for the help and sorry for the dumb questions.

You may want to reconsider this answer with regard to whether or not the popcharger filtering cone comes pre-oiled.

I have ordered 2 of the said and in both cases, both of the popcharger filtering elements were pre-oiled. It's not difficult to tell whether or not the unit has been oiled. Upon cleaning your filter, use due care when oiling it. Too much oil is bad for the MAF sensor.

I opted to use 2 filters. At every 5k mile interval, I take the dirty one out and replace it with a clean and oiled filter. Thus, there is no down time and I can take my time to clean and oil the dirty unit.

Forgive my stupidity, but how exactly do you tell. If it's blue already, is it already oiled?

Regardless of the color, to be sure, you can take a piece of tissue paper/paper towel and and squeeze the said around one of the filter pleats. The residual oil should bleed off onto the tissue paper.

Either way, it'll be easy to tell if they come pre oiled. If it's oily as hell, it's preoiled.

By that I mean if you run your fingers across it and you don't get any residue, then you'll want to oil it.

When I originally cleaned my popcharger element, it was a grayish white, if you will. So, I would have to believe that an unoiled unit is white in color.

Edit this is very strange i took a pic of it bout 2 or 3 weeks after the install pic was taken by phone and it looks very blue. Now i just popped my hood i dont see any blue at all in it?

Over time the filter will lose the bluish color.

they come preoiled from jwt, if you bought it used then i would the seller how many miles were on it. just because you dont feel oil does mean its not there. i would be careful reoiling it due to the sensitivity of the maf to any sort of debris.
