My New Crawford v5 Plenum

Well, I put on my new v5 last nite. It looks so much better than the older models, I cut the cover to fit so it would be exposed. No difference in performance from the older Crawfords, but I think this one looks great. What do you think?

Re: My New Crawford v5 Plenum

You traded in your old Crawford cover that you paid $400.00+ for and gave Crawford another $200.00+ to get another plenum that provides no more power but looks better! HMMM! I have some swampland for sale!

And I'm sure you know what you can do with your swampland. Bet there's no sunshine there.

I didn't ask nor do I expect an opinion of my financial expertise.

It's my car, and I can do with it as I please. If you don't approve, I really don't care. I like what I did, and I was trying to share.

I think it looks WAY better than the old ones. Since it has 2 bolts now, what is the difference on the inside?

Re: My New Crawford v5 Plenum

The base of the plenum (manifold) has six bolts for mounting the plenum (top). Two rows of three. In the old design four were used and two were blocked. In the new v5 design two are used and four are not and are blocked by bolts inside the plenum. Look at your stock plenum and you'll see what I mean. You will see six bolts in the top. Since these four don't seem to be needed, I believe they will cause obstruction that we don't need. I think they were put there to cut down on intake noise, but what do I know. Crawford told me that none are needed, but if all the bolts are left out, it will create a woo-woo sound. Also the Kinetix prototype left out all six bolts, and there was flex. The production one, I believe, will have the center two bolts like the Crawford.

It looks good, but maybe you should just consider leaving the engine cover off. I think it looks a bit strange the way it is, but that is just my opinion ofcourse. To each his own.

i feel the same way about the engine cover.... for some reason, the engine looks puny how you have it right now, maybe its just the angle of the pics...
good job though, looks professionally done!
