HKS Legamax Review

This is my 2nd aftermarket exhaust sytem. My first was the Fujitsubo. I didn't like the Fujitsubo because of it's big 4.5" tips. Thus, I got this for the classy/clean look. However, I sacrificed sound when I got the HKS. I think the sound is much like stock. The Fuji had a beautiful deep roar, especially in the low RPMs. When I floor it with the HKS on, I hear a lil bit of the exhaust then it's just my Stillen intake. GabeG35coupe also has this exhaust and he dynoed an average of 7.4 rwhp. Hopefully, I'll get louder once I get the JIC/Bullet Y-Pipe. Piping on this is 65mm, Fuji had 73mm which is the biggest of all the exhaust sytems that I know of out there. I think stock is 55mm or 60mm. For those of you who want sound, this isn't it. But for classy looks and good gains, it was worth the money.

There's an oval because HKS put a sticker there. The muffler is smaller than the Fujitsubo, which is smaller than stock so with this, you're saving a lot of weight for those of you who are into weight reduction. I remember when carrying it around, I carried it under my armpit.

Tig welds, however, not as beautiful and even as the Fujitsubo welds.

There's HKS etching that you can sort of see. It may look like the tips are protruding out from the pictures but they're really not. Lines up evenly. This system comes with the midpipe and muffler, no Y-pipe.

I got this from REVHIGH. I highly recommend them. He met my shipping needs and everything. And when his monkeys messed up the order by sending me 2 mufflers instead of a muffler and a midpipe, he shipped the midpipe 2nd day Air so that I'd get it in time. Props to Mike from RevHigh.

Nice I like the oval tips. so how does it sound? Is it a full cat back or only the rear section?

Re: HKS Legamax Review

AFter having it on for 2 weeks now, I'd say the sound is louder. It almost sounds like my Stillen intake, but in the back of the car. The sound could be described as a smooth roar, transitioning from exhaust to intake from lower to upper rpms. Definitely sounds different from stock, and not as deep as the Fujitsubo but there's a growl when you stomp on the pedal.

Re: HKS Legamax Review

GoSooners,
Nice exhaust lol. Anyway, it's going to get a bit deeper with some more time but probably not as loud as your Fujitsubo like you said. I've had mine for a few months now and it definitely has a little more character that when I first put it on, that being said as I tried to explain in my review it's still a pretty mellow system compared to some I['m sure. I hope my post was accuarate and I didn't steer you wrong!

Re: HKS Legamax Review

Here is the link to my pictures and dyno sheet. The dyno run was taken from an average of 6 runs I believe. HKS prefers to show a middle of the road result instead of whichever shows the highest result which would misrepresent the product:
