Re: increase airflow to stock airbox mod.

butt dyno says about 2hp and it's all psycological....if you can feel 2hp, you got a sensitive @ss.....however, for gas milage, it actually got 2-3 mpg more.

04 Black Sedan 6mt / front blinker mod, z tube+k&n panel filter / 18" r/h c2s w/khumos 235/40zr18 / stock airbox mod / s-teins / crank pulley / pre-muffler, what pre-muffler?

Re: increase airflow to stock airbox mod.

Ditto on the gas mileage. I'm getting 2-3 more mpg and it just put on 20's. I did the same mod a while back and I did not plug the hole. Seems to me air would be sucked in thru the hole, grabbing cold air from the same space a CAI would grab it from.

when you took off the power duct pc you visually saw that you opened up a larger intake area....but.....if you look you will see the hood comes down over that area. In stock form it looks like the only air draw would be from the l/8" crack at the leading edge of hood. I removed mine entirely and it did nothing

wait... so you are saying removing two pieces engineered for your cars stock intake box resulted in an improvement in performance? hard to believe, but I'll wait for dyno sheets.

I took off my power duct today it sounds real nice, i'm debating on putting it back...maybe in the summer when it gets hot and heatsoak would be an issue.

I actually cut the resonator off the bottom of the intake box and fabricated another support bracket to help hold it in place. Left the power duct on though. Makes no sense to take that off. Im gonna take it back out though and patch the hole later. Sounds a little better thats all.

I dont feel like this would do anything at all except make the intake louder...i also am really skeptical on seeing 2-3mpg difference by doin this. i dont see how i could get 24mpg instead of 21 by takin off part of the factory intake scoop
