Installing Z-tube after CAI

I removed my Injen CAI today and installed the factory set up back into the car with a Z-tube and a K+N filter. My question is about another possible sound baffle or something that connects to the BOTTOM of the factory air box. It is basically a hollow piece that fits into a circle cut out on the bottom of the factory air box.

Anyone familiar with the piece I'm talking about?

Just curious if this is in fact just an extra sound baffle or what because I did not put this piece back in because I didn't think it necessary. Hope I'm right.

If were talking about, what I'm thinking about, than no it's not a sound baffle. It's basically the mount than fits into the a rubber grommet in frame (I think) to keep the air box in place.

No, it's not those, I know what those are. This is a separate piece.

$hit, this is gonna be hard to explain. I need some pics I guess...

There is a hole, a perfect circle, cut out in the bottom of the airbox, this piece fits up into that hole from underneath. It almost looks like a damn flask or canteen or something.

Well I'm totally clueless about what you're talking about now.
(When somebody actual tells you what it is, I'm going to think "Oh That")

it is a form of a resonator as mentioned above. when i had the stock air box, i had mine closed with a rubber plug. it will not harm anything to have it out but without it in place, one could argue that it opens up a spot for warm/hot air to come into.

That is what it is. It is a silencer only. When I put in my Z Tube, I pulled it out. It's a worthless piece of garbage.

Thats what i figured just by the looks of it. Also, it seems it might be slightly beneficial to leave it out as it adds another portal for air to enter the filter box.

I left mine in when installing the Z-tube/Pop Charger, in case I ever go back to stock, its not a PITA to re-install that piece.
