Re: KINETIX PLENUM CRACKED!!!
The picture I found on the 350z link was the promotional
pic of a new plenum. I guess the KINETIX plenum isn't
make of the good resin plastic that NIssan used on their
2000 Maxima. I have the 2000 Maxima and the plenum
is as solid as the day I bought it.

Re: KINETIX PLENUM CRACKED!!!
To think Kinetix has used the same material found in plastic automotive intake construction is a bit of a reach. They haven't mentioned anything to that fact that I've seen. All these crack's makes me wonder about the plactic stock they are using, hope it's virgin with zero recyled contend.

Re: KINETIX PLENUM CRACKED!!!
This is extremely old news. This first came up a couple of weeks ago on another car. The outer area where some of the bolts go can crack it the bolts are over torqued or if there is a flaw in casting. Kinetix has already changed it and added inserts to make the flanges stiffer and will replace any that crack with the new version. When I saw the first post on this a couple of weeks ago, I was expecting to see 50+ people with the same problem; but this is only the 2nd person to have a problem. The thing that is stressed is the overtorqueing part. The bottom line is this was grossly over reacted before talking to the vender first.

Re: KINETIX PLENUM CRACKED!!!
This is exactly what i was worried about and but stopped short of predicting outright. Like Jim said, we have no idea what kind of plastic they used, and it certainly does NOT seem to be the same kind used ot e Nissan Titan or the Mustangs (that plastic would never "flex" at WOT like the Kinetix one did - or at elast sed to until they added 'reinforcements').
Just get the v5 Crawford plenum, it's rock solid! Also, we G guys need to consider that the Kintex one does NOT have the wholes on top of the plenum to mount our engine covers and it has that UGLY dip in the back (which I would think would impede performance if anything) for the strut tower brace that we do not use. The two plenums are of the same price. If you want to ahve your plenum to "swap in" everytime you go to the dealer, just pay a little more. I personally do not think that scenario is feasible.

Re: KINETIX PLENUM CRACKED!!!
gurgenpb,
As far as the Crawford V5 being rock solid, I'm not too sure. I spoke with Doug TODAY (he told me my V5 was in the mail) and he mentioned that there have been some issues with leaking on the Crawford Plenum. He also told me to use the stock gasket and put the crawford gasket ON TOP of the stock??? I'm not too sure this makes since, but I'll wait until I get the plenum and read the instructions then. Also, another member of Fresh Alloy had the clear enamel coating start to blister on him. This is simply a cosmetic thing (and crawford doesn't use clear coat any more for this very reason), but to say "the V5 is rock solid" may be a slight stretch. The good news is that BOTH KINTEX and CRAWFORD are standing behind their products 100%.
