350z parts on G35?

Hello there. My name is Carlo from Rome, Italy.

I currently own a '04 Nissan 350Z and now tempted to "upgrade" to G35 (coupe) since i need a 4-seater.

I will try to import a 04->07 manual G35 coupe into Italy (now looking online for a white one which would be my favourite color).

So I am 100% new to the G35 world and still trying to put all the puzzle pieces together.

My first post is to ask about "compatibility" between Z and G in the exhaust line.

Are the exhaust manifolds, catalyzers, y-pipe, mid pipe and back boxes fully compatible?

I remember there was a sort of "extender pipe" needed on the G to install Z catbacks... is that right?

Let me know.

Thanks!

the exhaust parts will match up, but you will need the extension pipe which gets mounted right after the y-pipe.

good luck with your endeavor!

I didn't know until today... apparently there is a dealer that has one in stock already here... they asked me a whopping 37.000 EUR (...).

If i am able to spot a decent 2nd hand one in the US for around 24.000 USD my price in Italy after shipping, tax, car papers, plates etc. will be around 25.000 EUR.

The good news is that the Infiniti brand is now being officially distibuted in Italy (they are now bringing the G37 sedan+coupe to the Italian market plus the usual FX.. EX series etc.).

But i expect prices will be incredibly high!

Just consider that a Nissan 350Z with Bose audio, Brembos, Rays wheels, leather seats etc. costs around 38.000 EUR (brand new after discount!).

The new Nissan GT-R (2009) will cost 75.000 EUR !!!

After reading this i am sure you will feel very happy to live in the US !!

PS - If you do know of any nice G35 coupe for sale in your area let me know (i am after a white, black or red one). Manual gearbox please!

im sure though that those prices include any taxes and extra fees associated with buying the car correct? it seems from what I've been told from some euro friends of mine that most advertised prices include those taxes and fees.

I think you're doing the right thing though, the euro is much stronger than our dollar so buying it in the states is probably a very smart move.

I agree you can probally buy a decently moded one for the amount of money that you are willing to spend, have it shipped, and still cost less then a new one there

Funny thing is... in order to be put on italian license plates, all cars not previously sold in Europe (so w/out a european "model report") must first be plated in Germany where the rules are a little less strict... and then re-plated in Italy. To do this of course it costs money...

Today i received a quotation from a car importer...

For a US$ 24.000 2nd hand G35 coupe found on Ebay they want 28.500 EUR (US$44,000) in return

So unless i find someone (a lot) cheaper i think the G35 will remain a dream....

i guess italy is a little different than say the UK, where I thought all it had to do was pass some kind of inspection and emissions test which I imagine a stock US-spec G35 would.

It seems like the dealer now is willing to go down to 26.000 EUR which is still silly money compared to US prices.. but starts to be interesting...

Car is a black 2005 G35 with black interiors and about 30.000 miles on the clock.

Also has 19" Acura wheels (optional right?).

I am going to see it on Tuesday and then try to sell the 350Z.

I'd like to know if i can re-use on the G35 the following parts:

- front/rear brake pads (i have brembo calipers on the Z)
- brake lines (i have nismo)
- HKS catalyzers
- Motordyne spacer iso thermal
- Mishimoto carbon air induction kit
- KSport coilovers

Thanks!

Carlo
