Changed Air Filter some questions

I just changed the air filter this weekend. The process is not as bad as one might think except a few bruised knuckles maybe.

I noticed that the old air filter was made by Napa looks better than the OEM from Nissan p/n 16546-0Z000. It has more layers of paper plus had a metal grill on the back making it look more sturdy. I think it was put in @ 15k service on the car by a local shop from the previous owner . I bought the car with 20k on it.

So my questions are:
Is the Napa filter better than the OEM filter? Which filter shoudl I use, (i know about K&N besides that)
I also noticed some dirt (i think normal) but much more on the right corner of the filter and some grime as well on the right corner of the filter intake housing. Anyone have any idea how come it accumulated like that?
I have some pics so you can look at the filter.
Thanks for ur response

If you are not going to go Injun, Stillen, PopCharger,,etc.CAI..
Just get the K&N drop in filter.
