Question about Midpipes

Hey, i have a coupe midpipe sitting in my garage waiting to be installed, but the last time we tried, it got up on the lift, and the bolts were just rusted on. (My midpipe was the ONLY thing rusted.) So my sisters bf said we will probably ahve to cut them and you can go get new bolts.

Well, today turns around, i head down there to get the license plates for the new 08 G and get them put on (the car is great BTW) and as they are doing it the guy tells me they are welded onto the opposite end exhaust pieces.

So i go w t f. Okay, i will ask about it.

Is this true? How the fock can i get this thing off without buying a whole new damn exhaust?

Thanks in advance.

Janik.

Usually an air tool will break them free.
If not, the other method is a nut splitter which cracks the nut & breaks it free.
You can usually save the welded stud this way.

For a few bucks & a lot less headache, it's probably worth it to go to a muff shop.

Spray some rust remover on it like crazy and let sit for 15 minutes. You could use wd-40 as well. mine's an 03 and I had crazy rust on the midpipe too. I sprayed it and let it sit. Came right off with some muscle. Also, do you got a coupe middy? On the 05/06's... the coupe middy won't do much at all... besides weight reduction.

Worked well for me. Try it, it wouldn't hurt and it would be MUCH easier than hacking away at it with a saw

You would not have to weld the new ones on. One of my snapped and I just drilled it out and got a new bolt 2 washers and a nut and it works fine

yup, I had my mid pipe and rear section changed in less than an hour with rusted bolts. if you dont have a lift, you wontget enough tourqe on the bolts to break it, unless you have air tools
