Kinetix Plenum/Carbon Fiber Cover install tip,pic

After installing my plenum last week I recently noticed several bolts had loosened. Probably due to the high temps and vibration present. The loctight does not do the job. I reinstalled the plenum and put 1/4" lock washers on all the bolts and nuts; now no problem. If one of the 4 short filler bolts under the plenum came out it would be game over.

so what's the point of the ground kit if you're grounding the plastic plenum?

Excellent observation! I do believe you need to move your
ground point.

well you are still grounding it to the aluminum head through the bolt.

The bolt is mounted to the metal base of the engine.

Re: Kinetix Plenum/Carbon Fiber Cover install tip,

The difference is HUGE, well worth the money. I think the sound, combined with the intake mod. makes the G sound completley different.. very healthy indeed.
Also, the plenum stays so cool that after driving an hour in 90 degree temps I can keep my hand on the plenum and not get burnt. Cold air = more HP.

Re: Kinetix Plenum/Carbon Fiber Cover install tip,

have you heard of the plenums cracking? i've done a search and there have been reports that the plenum has cracked. but the conclusion was that it was over-torqued. nevertheless, i assume that you have not had these problems. i'm still trying to determine which of the two plenums, crawford or kinetix, has a better flow.

Re: Kinetix Plenum/Carbon Fiber Cover install tip,

Kinetix has been proven to produce slightly more hp. Cracking may occur if the bolts are severly over tightened, but this has only ocurred on the first version (which were promplty replaced), which did not have metal inserts. Kinetix is the best in my opinion beceuse: they cost less, stay approx. 30 deg. cooler, and you get to keep your old unit.

It's a generic alum. intake tube with an Injen circular alum. heat shield and a K&N filter. I prefer this over the standard Injen set up: no worry about water damage and extra dirt, and having the filter against the factory ram air outlet provides a healthy cool air input.

The CAI looks clean from what little Ican see in the pic. Do you have a pic of the entire CAI or a link to a thread that addresses your mod?
