KINETIX or RT cats?

i was wondering what everyone out there thinks on which cat is the best. i live in cali., and the kinetix says its smog legal, but the rt says its only for off road use only. i currently have a borla exhaust, crawford plenum, and an injen intake.

I went with the kinetix because it looks very much like a stock part and it's a little cheaper .

Re: KINETIX or RT cats?

Yes, your car should be louder with the cats and ANY modifications to the stock exhaust. I'd recommend doing an air intake and Plenum mod to deepen the tone and balance out the sound a bit. Then again, I'm extremely bias because that's what I've done and am EXTREMELY happy with this set-up.

I chose the RT Cats, paid the extra money and can not comment whether it was worth the extra cash, but from the research I've done, they looked the cleanest and were supposedly the free-est flowing cats available. Either way you'll come out better than stock. Just depends on what you want, the free-est flowing exhaust, or close to it...

Take a look at the Crawfords. I put mine on last friday. Fitment and finish were great. The sound is awesome, and the power is definitely there. A great Cat. Some have complained of raspiness with the R/Ts and fitment problems with the Kinetix. I had no issues with the Crawfords.

Re: KINETIX or RT cats?

there was a post a while back that claimed the RT's were the most free flowing, but there was no proof to back it up. The TS flow bench test was only between test pipes and the RT's....i think. so thats why i went with kinetix for price.

G35S 6MT / ts ecu / 350z springs & struts / jwt popcharger + z-tube / stillen dual exhaust / 6-wire ground kit / soon: kinetix high flow / ssr intake manifold

Re: KINETIX or RT cats?

well, the rt cats look a lot better, and all the cats will pass the california sniffer tests. as for the visual, i don't think the rt's will do. but, i have heard of some fitment issues with the earlier models of the kinetix. not too sure about the crawfords. you should do a search, there's a lot more info than what i have provided. hope that helps!
