About HKS HI POWER exhaust

So i just bought one from THMotorsports, and i have a few questions for you guys.

1) it comes with an H pipe, what is the difference between H pipes, Y pipes and test pipes?

2) Would these exhaust pass the em test?

3) anyone know shops that would install these with a good price in the 951/909 area?

thx in advance.

Y pipe is the section after your cats. H pipes are the section after the Y pipe and before the mufflers. You'll get both with the HKS hi power. Test pipes are what you replace your cats with if you want to get a bit more power, but are not legal for street use. You should be able to pass emissions with just an HKS hi power.

There is no y pipe with HKS it does use an H pipe. The reason I think is it helps reduce the drone, keeps the pipes from bang and flexing, I am sure there is other reasons also

That red circled section isn't a Y pipe? Or is it considered part of the H pipe? I thought the H pipe was mentioned because it doesn't have a X pipe in the middle there like the stillen has.

NOPE!!! the y-pipe is after the cats BUT you can replace it w/an h-pipe or x-pipe. the section after the y-pipe and before the muffler is the mid-pipe. h-pipe's come down from the headers and have a crossover section, like the bar across an "H" ...get it???

i wouldn't say the HKS has an H-pipe, i'd say it's just a straight through system

Y-pipe: cheap to build, compact, does the job

H-piple: better flow, "H" crossover reduces drone

X-pipe: "X" crossover increases exhaust velocity(exhaust scavenging), better flow w/o losing back-pressure needed for low-end hp/tq

straight though: highest flow, but loudest set up, favors high-end power

It's not as easy as that. Have fun replacing a y-pipe with an h-pipe when you still have a single exhaust.

^^^yeah, duh... geez, i didn't think i hadda explain that in-depth.

-H-pipe's & X-pipe's are for dual pipping set-ups

-Straight-through can be single(well after the y-pipe) or dual
