New Coupe Owner!! Whats the best exhaust?

Coming from a CL-S, I love the G's exhaust note! So, whats the best replacement exhaust? I want something with some performance gains but I dont want it to be super loud. Suggestions appreciated, thanks.

STILLEN. Higher priced but Great Workmanship. No louder than stock until you get over 4,500 RPM then it's louder but sounds Sweet & is still tolerable. Highway cruising speeds, no Difference. I've had mine for almost a year now & still loving it...Welcome to the "G" Family!

Thanks for the pics! I want to do exhaust first. Is this logical?

Re: New Coupe Owner!! Whats the best exhaust?

If you want more bang for your buck, I would suggest going with high-flow cats and\or plenum. High-flow cats are made by many companies, most noteable ones are: crawford, kinetix, random technology, and labree. For plenums, you don't have alot of choice but the solutions out work great! Plenum-makers include kinetix and crawford. Crawford requires a core-return, is metal, and costs roughly $400. Kinetix is a $400 plastic one (less heat soak), doesn't require a core-return, but cannnot be used for FI applications (a FI version will come out). You can buy the cats from PerformanceNissan (not sure if they got the $500 special for Random Technology) or plenum and cats from crawfordz.com or kinetixracing.com. But however, if you really want an exhaust I would suggest Stillen (a bit expensive IMO), Borla [what I have] (price is right but it comes in like 17 pieces and not polished), Nismo (rebadged Fuj), and MAYBE Injen (it is quite loud from what I hear from others though). Hope this helps you out...

I personally wouldnt waste my money on a cat-back If I were you I would go with a JIC or Japtrix Y-pipe with High flow cats and the Crawfords Plenum this setup would run you about the same amont as the stillen catback exhaust, you will gain alot more power with Y-pipe/Highflow Cats/Penum than any exhaust out

Agree with NismoG. From what I've read and gathered, the restrictive elements are the Cats, Y Pipe and Plenum. Rest of the exhaust is very free flowing.

Re: New Coupe Owner!! Whats the best exhaust?

if you decide to go with the setup like I said DO NOT just go with any Y-pipe the only ones worth buying are JIC, Japtrix or the Top Secret they have the best design for the flow of the exhaust

Yesterday I had Fujitsubo with Y-Pipe installed. Looks great, sounds great, and (seat of pants) adds power. Pricey, tho.

Re: New Coupe Owner!! Whats the best exhaust?

nismoGcoupe,

Can I add a JIC Y-pipe to the stock set-up without any additional modification? I think that I read somewhere that aftermarket Y-pipes such as the JIC and Fujitsubo have an 80 mm collector vs. the 65 mm stock collector.

"bought" hit the nail on the head with major emphasis. All I can say is "I agree 100%".

For the other posts, they're pretty much dead on too, except for the fact that a pulley should be purchased before/after the plenum and high flow cats.

Happy modding...

Re: New Coupe Owner!! Whats the best exhaust?

BORLA Exhaust all the way... its less than $700 and gives you the most bang for the buck... +8RWHP (results are from the exhaust dyno shootout day last fall) I dont remember what Stillen's was exactly, but i know it was only +5RWHP from stock, or less.

If i were to do this all over... for my first mod, i would go with a good grounding kit, then i would go with the Z-tube, then high flow Cats, then Crawford Plenum, THEN finally Borla exhaust
