Injen Intake Problems after Installation

Alright, here is the lowdown.

Saturday my brother and I installed a new Injen CAI intake on my car. Everything went well for the first day; no sensors went off, everything is sealed, no weird noises, and my baby seemed happy.

Problems started this morning. I turn the car on for the 3rd time since the intake has been installed...works fine. I get home, park the car and go inside for five minutes. I come back out to do a quick errand. I put the key in the ignition the idle rpms go to about 1k then quickly drop to 0 and the engine shuts off.

I try again. rpms go to 1k then drop down to 100 and then something seems to catch; the rpms raise to 300 and the car seems fine. I had to go through this process every time I started the car today.

Note that I started the car no more than an hour before it was turned off.

Fast forward to tonight: the car has been sitting in my cool garage for a few hours(it's been in the 90s around here this week) and I turn the key assuming the worst. Rpms reach ~600 and the car seems fine. I tried it again on the way home tonight and the car started fine.

I don't want to overlook what was happening before...so what should I do? I'm due for an oil change in a few hundred miles so should I just take it to the dealership and see what they say? I don't know what else to do. I've searched around here and have only seen resetting the ecu and/or cleaning the throttle body. I'd rather not take everything apart and I don't have the equipment to reset the ecu...so I ask you fellow G drives: what do you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

i say clean the MAF and throttle body.. and resetting the ECU is easy, you just need to disconnect the battery overnight.. that requires a wrench

this may sound like a dumb question but did u make sure the cai was still on tightly. my first attempt ever at installing one it actually fell off a few days later and i had this same problem. in my own defense i learned a lot since then hahaha.

I would save cleaning the MAF and throttle body for a last resort... they are both pretty touchy parts, and once the throttle body is out of whack you'll most likely have to go to the dealer to have them reset it.

Definitely reset your ecu. Lots of people have problems with low idle/dying at startup after installing intakes...myself included. Resetting my ecu fixed the problem. My idle is still 100 rpm lower than it was before the install, but it hasn't died on me since I did the reset.
