If the OP can afford to buy the car(in which he already stated he has plenty of money), why go cheap with some PVC?
Lets say OP changes his mind and buys a Ztube. Now he's out an extra $10 from the original attempt at penny-pinching plus the time wasted making such an invention.

I made my own z-tube too except I didn't use PVC. I took an intake that was for a different car, cut the metal tubing and it fit perfectly. If you guys want I can take pictures of it.
As soon as I put it in, I could feel just the slightest increase in power but mainly I heard an a louder roar from the engine when it go up to high rpms.

Here are 2 pitcures of it. My breathing tube is actually underneath the tube itself. Had to do that because of fitment.
