Air flow suggestions and comments needed.

Ok now I want to get this puppy breathing with ease and make her sound nice at the same time obviously so this is what I want to do and I need opinions and suggestions.

1.Injen- intake, Or PoP Cahrger (I already have a Z Tube)?

2.I'm thinking Crawford cats.

3.Injen SES Straight tips exhaust.

I'd like to do the plenum but it's not at the top of the list.

Ok so I fugure this setup would sound pretty nice. as for power gains I dont know but it's not my main concern so whatever.

Exhaust- Is this thing even out?? The straight tips for the G that is. and if so what can I expect to pay? Also what is all this talk about a Y-pipe? Should I get one or is it included with the exhaust? if not what is a good place to get one and what do they typically cost?

As for the intake and cats I think that I pretty much know where to get everything and whatnot so I dont really have too many questions about those. Hell they've been discussed over and over again so I think Im all set when it comes to that. Just the exhaust things need a little clearing up. Also opinions on how this setup might sound and if anyone already has it what they think of it would be nice. Thanx guys!!!

Re: Air flow suggestions and comments needed.

The manometer [0-30" water column or metric Kpsa] is the secret cheap piece of test equipment, that members overlook in evaluating intake mods........just like a pressure gauge [0-10 psi] to measure backpressure [from the primary O2 port thru the cats and exhaust is rarely used.

The max flow will be at redline in both cases.

You can compare the pressure drop across filters, the MAF, the TB, the airbox you name it with a 1" WC resolution [that is 1/28 x 0.066=~~ 0.23% of full air flow. Something approximating the air flow to resolve 1.0 HP changes.

The system/systems which creates the least resistance to atmosperic pressure to the plenum [or runners] Wins!

All that counts is WOT exhaust back pressure seen at the header output [where the O2 screw in].

Remove the entire exhaust leaving the cats exposed to air, read the back pressure at different rpms under load, plot a graph, then see what is ultimately possible.

Sometimes [many times] the loudest exhaust is not always best at every rpm.

As an example I measured peak WOT losses [" WC vacuum depression] of: 5" after an air filter, 12" after a MAF, 13" at input to TB, 18" at plenum. By experimenting and find bottlenecks and changing components I was able to decrease system resistance by 4" WC, improving plenum pressure [less vacuum] 4/28=1/7........rough the air equivalent of 1% gain.
