right on Bud! I've also realized an increase in gas mileage also.. 2-4 MPG's over all... well worth the $$ indeed!!

Good info guys, I'm really on the fence between the Amsoil and OEM. What makes the Amsoil appealing to me is the alleged 2-4 mpg gains! Anyone with a amsoil that hasn't found these gains?

Amsoil filters out more dust while breathing better. An air filter is supposed to filter out dust. That's the only job it has. Breathing better is a bonus, as when it gets clogged, it needs as much help as it can get. Coming out of a dirty OEM into a clean Amsoil or OEM is bound to produce slightly better MPG. I'll post mine once I get through a tank of gas. It takes about a month at least for me. I only drove 20 miles this week!

I don't see how you could get 2-4mph gain over a clean paper filter. I'm not saying I don't believe you. Maybe you just discovered the miracle product of the year. So I'm anxious to hear your results.

I also don't understand how it can breath better and filter better. It's usually one or the other if the filters are the same surface area.

I would be very skeptical of 2-4mpg gain from just switching filter brands to Amsoil. Yes you could get that magnitude of improvement from going from a very dirty filter to a clean one, but I run the Amsoil filter and I have noticed NO change in mpg with a relatively constant driving style.

Also +1 on better filtration usually = less breathability. While Amsoil claims that it is both better at filtration and breathability, I really doubt that it helps much with the breathing aspect. I switched more to keep the air going into my engine as clean as possible and not an extra hp/mpg. The differences between both those as compared to OEM are negligible at best.

No air filter will provide noticeable HP, be it a paper filter, gauze or Cold Air Intake. The additional flow will be felt most by the money being sucked out of our wallets. Filters are supposed to trap particulates and keep them out of our engines...period. You have to "filter"...pun intended, through the marketing and decide who you believe has the most filtration while not choking the engine. The only filter that chokes the engine is a dirty filter. Infiniti did not spend their R&D money to cheap out on an air filter, so stock is sufficient. The Amsoil technical data was convincing to me, as far as how it traps the particulates. It only takes about 10 minutes to pull it out and clean it too, if you really want to stay on top of it and keep your engine running and breathing well. Your car will not likely get better MPG, but every car needs a good clean air filter. Our cars already have a factory cold air intake that draws in more cold air than a cone filter that is drawing in heated engine compartment air. I tried a K&N in my previous car, a BMW M3 and it really made it slow off the line when it sucked in that first blast of hot air.

I am simply reporting what i see at the pump.. since changing to the AMSOIL filter last summer, I've gone from 16-17 average per tank to a consistent 19-20 per tank... I was running OEM before... I tried running OEM again to see what the impact was.. it just doesn't breathe as easy as the AMSOIL.

This is all based on the additional intake and exhaust mods to date (check my Sig for specifics), so maybe the cumulative effects of the combination of them all is driving this.. but i noticed the mileage change after the filter change... that's all I got guys... I play'em like they lay'em.. no hardcore scientific dyno-data or pie charts to compare... just what i see at the pump.

didn't mean to generate any anxiety in the camp...

Went to website, but could not find this Product ID available from the drop down menu to order. Then did a search based on year, make, and model, and results came back offering a different brand of AF (non Amsoil Ae Air Filter).

Did this filter get discontinued?

I wonder if it was discontinued for some sort of negative reasons.

I just got off the phone with AMSOIL Customer Service, They have this part number (EAA74) in stock, I just ordered 2 for backup stash... (even though they come with a 4 year 100K mile warranty).

The issue is with the web site when you query on the year, make and model, they are looking into it...

Mine are shipping out of the Columbus OH Warehouse, I should have them tomorrow.

Call the 1-800 ordering number direct and ask for the EAA74 Air Filter, they will drop ship from the nearest warehouse to your location, they're $34.15 each.

so... did everything work out ok for you yesterday...?

hope so... I think you'll like them.. no oil or cleaners to mess with, either shop vac it from the dirt side or blow it out from the back side with an air compressor at an angle.. and you're good to go!
