Adding a side scoop

Has anyone considered adding a side scoop to ram air into the cavity where typical CAI filters go. I would envision something right on the side, that could also be rotated during rainy situations to prevent engine damaging. Maybe cut a 6" diameter hole in the bumper and install this thing with a winguts to rotate it 180 if it rains. Could even steal an OEM design from say the rear 1/4 panel of a mustang.

Re: Adding a side scoop

Now I can spell rice, thanks for the lesson. It's a $300 bumper, there are a lot of pieces of rice that make up a $30,000+ G35. I can imagine real gains from this mod. There is no direct fresh air into that cavity, most of the air is turbulent bouncing off the radiator. Drilled Aluminum Pedals??? Get the steamer out!

Re: Adding a side scoop

why would you need to cut any holes?
unless you mean make some room inside the bumper area. cuz it makes a lot of sense to have a scoop/tunnel that runs from the lower valence up into the intake area. (btw I have a popcharger)

something like the Grupp-M intake.

Re: Adding a side scoop

For a CAI, it runs down into the fender well behind the front bumpers. I think this should go on the right side of the bumper, and be more like something similar to a brake cooler that would go on a mustang or corvette in front of the rear wheel, or even in front of the front wheels. See pic

Re: Adding a side scoop

That is what I like about the Stillen setup and the stock
box. There is a stream of fresh air flowing directly into the
filter of both. The Injun is in the fender well sucking dead
air.
