Intake Question

hey fellaz, this is my first post, before you remind me that the same topic has been discussed a billion times, well i did my research and basically wanted to know something that hasnt been discussed much out there.
Basically my friend has an 04 g35 coupe also and his b-day is comin up. Ive been looking to get him an intake. Now i see the pop charger, ztube, stillen kits, injen's, bla bla bla. I just wanna get him a simple $60 SRI off ebay. He could care less bout the power, noise is the only thing here, not like intakes make much power in the first place. So some thing like this would suffice

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-05...mZ320286938934

what are your thoughts?

also he had bought the extended warranty a while ago but voiding that is in the air sort of thing since they have to prove the problem caused was because of the intake so that should be ok, he has like close to 70k miles on it

and why is that? so you wont but these CAI intakes fujita or the other credible companies sell on ebay? I bought one for my corolla and its been over a year, running as strong as any other intake out there. Basically my question was would that be good enough, as far as noise goes, power isnt a priority here

I would go with the Stillen yes might be the same performance as ebay intake, but I like the fit and finish of the Stillen intake. It looks OEM and you would not know it has an intake unless you knew what a stillen intake looks like.

Maybe a drop in K and N would work as well to fit your price range?

youre right, but again, this is just some intake, theyre all the same, i know if i get him that, hes not gonna think how cheap, cause he realy isnt much into modding and whatnot, he said he wanted more noise so i thought, whats a better time than to give him an intake on his b-day. Plus dont really have $200 lyin around for an intake, if that was the case, id get me some headers for my corolla lol

LOL. I see.. If he wants the raw intake noise then get him the ebay or whatever intake.

If he wants a little more noise then get him a Z tube(its a stock intake from a 350z) Those go for REALLY cheap, i got mine for 20 bucks.. Then u can get him a drop in k$n filter for about 30-40... That will make his intake a bit louder, and its argued that the Ztube w/ k&n gives you the best power out of all intakes out there.

I think the ebay intake might actually lose power due to heat soak, and that is especially the case with the G35s... And on top of that, it won't be CARB legal if you're in CA or anywhere that cares.

If you want a deal on a Z-tube, look around on my350z.com for a used one. Simply getting rid of the resonators on the G-tube will help slightly increase the noise from the intake.

PM me if you want to get him an intake plenum spacer instead... I have one sitting in my garage.
