If its the REVUP engine, a spacer, all by itself won't work.

OTOH if you use a MREV2 with it on a REVUP engine, a spacer works well.

If its a manual transmission it is a rev-up. If its an automatic, just the spacer will be fine.

Few ok perfect. Yeah its a 2006 6 spd G35. So the skunk2 spacer will work fine. Im going to try to space the strut brace i guess to make it fit.

Were doing this and a AEM and a velocity stack.

Hello, did you read MotorDynes post? NO..the spacer is useless with the '06
motor, you NEED the MREV 2 for the spacer to work. Earth to JDMCRX are
you receiving this transmission....Hello!

The MREV2 is a lower manifold that replaces the lower manifold of the 6MT revup engine.

Your friend has a 06 6MT so he definetly has the REVUP.

The REVUP lower plenum is a completely different design from the prior generation engine. Nissan fixed the "flow restriction" problem in the new design and it no longer benefits from a spacer.

But when Nissan fixed the REVUP lower plenum design, they also introduced another change. A change they sholdn't have made. They shortened the intake runners. And this changed the tuning frequency. Unfortunatly, they made the runners too short, so now they introduced a completely different kind of problem. The REVUP lower plenum has a poor "acoustic tuning".

The MREV2 is a modified lower plenum from the prior generation engine. It has the better acoustic tuning but it can still benefit from the use of a spacer. The modifications made by Motordyne to the MREV2 lower plenum allow it perform even better.

So the end result is that the MREV2 with a spacer outperforms either of the stock designs. Its basically a stock plenum with all the flaws taken out of it.
Its what Nissan should have done the first time around.

See the plot below. It is the MREV2 (w/wo spacer) dyno tested against the stock REVUP lower plenum.

so if i have an 03 automatic? does this mean that the plenum space by itself will work fine? im still not too clear on what to look for when buying the spacer.

^^you still need the spacer! If the motor is a revup model you need the mrev2 to make the spacer give you gains! However, if i were you I would return the skunk2 spacer and just go with all Motordyne. A huge majority of the forum that has done intake spacer/plenum mods has gone with Motordyne. Very reputable company
