Stainless vs aluminized exhaust?
aluminized will eventually rust and most dont say if the aluminized coating is on the inside or not...at least with a full stainless steal muffler (internals and all) you know theres little chance of rusting.
when I had my 300ZX with a stainless Stillen exhaust the muffler rusted from the inside out and the tip fell off (it was welded to the thru pipe which was not stainless).

SS is going to be more corrosion resistant (not corrossion proof though). Depends on where you live.
I ran aluminized pipe on my old maxima for years and years. No problems and no rust. But the northwest is alot easier on cars than the midwest/northeast.

The only real advantage of aluminized steel is that it is cheaper. As long as you do not live where there is salt on the roads in the winters, it will last a long time though. I still have my 14 year old Maxima with the factory exhaust intact (OEMs typically use aluminized steel with the exception of some high end applications). I have lived on coastal areas with it since I bought it too except for the years I was in school. Stainless of course will give you that nice shine as long as you keep it clean and do not over heat it.
The only real disadvantage of stainless (other than cost) is that it has a much higher coefficient of thermal expansion. More care has to be put into the design of the system to prevent cracking. Keep this in mind if you are going custom. Also keep in mind that not all stainless steels are the same. 400 series stainless is less expensive, does not expand as much, and is more heat resistant. On the down side, it is not as corrosion resistant. Stillen uses this on their system (at least for the G) on all the components except the tips and possibly the muffler. 300 series is the most corrosion resistant of the common stainless steels and the most expensive because of its high nickel and chrome content.

Thanks I appreciate it... Im on the east coast for now so I'm glad I asked before I went aluminized. I just bought the FI stainless hfc's and catback... All Ive heard is good things about it so I'm pretty stoked to get this overseas deployment done with so I can get back and slap that beast on.
