Do a search of "DaveB" and "UDP" and you find a lot of information about the +/- of adding a UDP to the VQ series motor and removing the factory crank damper pulley.

After reading all 6 pages I conclude there isn't a right or wrong answer on this and it will continue to be debated....I agree this theory came from the stang crowd after owning 3 of them and reading/working on them..with that said I don't think you will get any hp out of it but there is less rotational mass to move which should allow the engine to rev quicker..weight reduciton for your engine.

With that said, there is no way I would remove the damper from my motor with out seeing an analysis on the effects on the crank harmonics. This is one area that engine designers put a ton of study. No way am I going to trust an aftermarket company without seeing real test data. I am willing to bet that at best, all they studied was the torqued the pully must withstand and then made it strong enough to take that. I seriously doubt that spent one minute on studying the effects of the lack of the damper. They probably put one on a car. Drove it hard and said everything was all good since nothing broke.

The key slot on the pulley that slides over the crank "key" breaks, the pulley free-wheels, totally unbalances the crank, your motor goes boom.
I have the UR pulleys on my car for about a year and had no problems with them. After reading some of the stories on here I may go back to stock, but its a bitch to get on and off.
