should i remove the heatshield if i install HFC

hey guys i have read through some posts in which people said that their exhausts rattle. should i bend the heatshield before putting on hfc so i dont have a problem? does anyone have a picture of what a heatshield looks like cause i have no idea, and should i use a crow bar to bend it? thanks

Personally, I would leave them there. Afterall, they're there for a reason. When you get under there and get the stock cats off, you'll see them.

but some hfc cause rattling because of the heatshield right?

Crawfords original design was know to hit the OEM heatshield...in the revised version, this wasnt a problem anymore.

Even if you install the hfc and then run into issues with the oem shield, you can remove the shields without having to remove the hfc or just get a large screwdrive to bend the shield a bit. It would hit towards the top of the shield, where it bends up. You'll see what I'm talking about once you get under and look.

So, keep them on

When did the revised version come out?
What are all the differences between the original version and the revised version?
The reason I ask is b/c... long story short, I have a pair of Crawford HFCs, and the driver side n passenger side from 2 different sources, and the placement of the inside "web" or "comb" or whatever you call that, is different.
On one, the "web" is deeper inside and at an angle, while the other is straight and much closer to the end opening.

Um....sometime before 2008 I have no idea when the revised came out. I just remember buying the revised set. IIRC the revised version had more of a bend to it and cleared the OEM heat shield.

Try giving them a call.

^ i called them right now and they said the inside should look the same... crap!
i guess, the one thats deeper inside is melting and on the verge of blowing???
