GReddy EVO 2 vs. 5Zigen 3" Inch Cat Back Exhaust

I justed installed the GReddy EVO 2 Exhaust. Prior to this 5Zigen built a custom cat-back 3" inch exhaust for my TT set-up. I was not able to dyno the car with the prototype exhaust, but on half throttle w/ the 5Zigen exhaust I smoked my rear tires. Possibly a sign of significant HP gains.
One thing I did notice with such a free flowing exhaust boost lag became apparent. Also with my Kinetix straight pipes w/ resonators the 5Zigen prototype was way too loud inside the car. The 5Zigen prototype has been taken off my car and is being sent to Japan. If the prototype is produced it will be much quieter as presilencers and resonators will be added. On my prototype we only installed a glass pack.

GReddy supplied their EVO2 exhaust which features dual cat back 2.5" piping w/ X-pipe. The exhaust is quiet almost stock but more aggressive sounding at full throttle. Although it appears my car has lost some HP due to the more restrictive GReddy vs. the custom 5Zigen exhaust. GReddy claims 15-20 rwhp with a twin turbo set up on the EVO 2 exhuast. There is no longer any boost lag with the Greddy and the sound is so much more bearable.

I have pictures of the prototype 5Zigen and Greddy EVO 2 exhaust kits on my website

Thank G-cue for the PM - keep in mind what I said about buying your GReddy if you take it off the car - I want to be the first in line for it! (as long as I haven't forked over the bucks for a new one yet) I think I am going to be very happy going with this exhaust... Good luck with everything in the future and it's been great getting to watch the buildup of your car - it's the best G coupe in my book!

3" defintely adds more horses, but robs some torque here and there. I wonder why greddy doesnt make a 3" exhaust application for the coupe.. i am sure it would help their twin turbo kit tremendously, much moreso than 2.5" exhaust.

either way the exhaust setup looks great.

Check this thread out on my350z.com: http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthre...threadid=77316

If you can't login or don't want to for some reason, avalon racing and evolution autosports sell the exhaust, as well as a few others.

You only have 1,472 miles on your car?! Do you only use it as a show car?

Yes for the first two years the car will only be used as a show car. After two years I will either keep the car or sell it, if I keep it, the car becomes a daily drive and than I hunt for the next car to modify right now I'm considering the next generation Lexus IS 300/400 coupe.

Re: GReddy EVO 2 vs. 5Zigen 3" Inch Cat Back Exhaust

I think the GReddy is 2.5" because the way the exhaust is designed it works with turbos better, preventing boost lag and all that...Or I could be talking out of my ***

Did you have to relocate the EVAP? I know that on the Z they need to do that.

Yes, the GReddy kit comes with a kit to relocate the EVAP. Very easy to do.
