You can hear it, but it's very subtle. Unless I'm distinctively trying to listen for it, I really don't hear it at all.

That's about right. I didn't bother with the K&N filter (cleaning is a PITA). The OEM airbox is really efficient.

See that's where I'm at right now. I'm waiting on my own ztube to come in the mail (any day now I guess).

I have a new K/N filter I bought last week for 50.00 at Advanced Auto but the more I hear, the more it sounds like the stock paper filter is actually better vs the K/N????

If that's the case I need to know now so I can at least get that 50 back and avoid the hassle of cleaning the filter every 7K or so.

I also have a Stillen Ztube and K&N filter w/ the stock airbox. I agree that the Ztube from Stillen looks a little rough but it does the trick and is sturdy.

I honestly didn't notice a sound difference.... then again, I don't rev above 4k too often which is where you would hear it the most.

I just installed the ztube/K&N/MD 5/16 plenum spacer setup tonight. However, I can't get stock airbox to line up properly. Its like its stuck about an inch up on the right right by that black screw....How did you guys fix this?

I was racking my brain all night. Everything else went perfectly with the install. Anyone ever have any issues when they took the stock airbox/gtube out and then put it back in later on?

Thanks in advance and O.P, get the ztube! You won't regret it one bit. It makes the car come alive sound somewhat under throttle especially when passing someone on the freeway.

And with my mods I installed tonight, the car drives like this is how it should be from factory.

I do want to add that I also reset the ECU following the instructions on the MD plenum spacer kit and everything went great with that part as well

I feel crazy. I don't know why I removed the stock airbox. The darn Gtube was stuck on there. The rubber wouldn't budge until I took the whole box/gtube out also and had to pry around the rubber connector and pull like my life depended on it. This was with both of those silver screw clamps loosed to their end.

Now I feel like a douche bc I've been searching all night on various sites and ours on how to reinstall the stock airbox correctly so it sits flush but can't find instructions.

Any vets want to help a semi noob out just once? I'll owe a favor (must be reasonable) in exchange

You can get a OEM Airbox off a Rev-Up 2006 G35 (6MT). This airbox has a bigger velocity stack in the box which directs air flow better.

Thanks Jimmy. I defiantely want to upgrade the airbox. But how does this help me today? I had to lock the car in the garage last night with the hood slightly propped up because it won't close all the way down if that makes sense.

I need to fix this before I go out today. I guess my question is, what's the proper way to reinstall the airbox/ztube in place so it fits flush like it was before I took it out? I have the ztube part in perfect (both on the airbox side as well as the throttle body.

I just need the airbox side to sit in place with the air hole on the bottom. That's where the problem is. Anyone?
