Mid-pipe removal??

Hey guys, I am installing headers and a y-pipe, i already have test pipes installed. If i removed the mid-pipe and installed a straight pipe back to the muffler would there be any gains at all, and also how much louder will the car be? as of now to me the car isnt loud unless im at WOT with the test pipes. Or it isnt worth it to get rid of the mid-pipe...i plan on getting tuned afterwards.

So should the midpipe go or stay?

The midpipe has a small resonator in it. Removing it and installing a straight pipe will net you almost nothing, except for a little louder sound. IMO, it's not worth the hassle. So you have headers, test pipes, and a y-pipe but stock y-back?

For this system, a "cat-back" refers to everything that is behind the cats....Y-pipe, mid-pipe, and muffler section. When I say "Y-back" I am referring to everything behind the y-pipe (mid-pipe and muffler section). Don't take this the wrong way, but why would you spend all that money on headers, test pipes, and a y-pipe just to have the stock mid pipe and muffler section? Instead of modifying your stock mid-pipe you should upgrade it. Unless of course you are talking about modifying an aftermarket mid-pipe....which my answer will still be "don't do it, gains won't be realized".
