Ztube & pop charger newbish question / worry
I live in Eugene, OR and it rains off and on for like 8 months out of the year... Great weather huh? I want to add the ztube & pop charger to my ride.... but i have a major concern. I am worried because I have been completely caught off guard while smashing my civic through some country roads and found myself blasting through a flooded street going about 55. It was in a turn and I didn't have enough room to slow down or avoid it... turning my type R into a submarine. Having a CAI at the time, I took mother natures huge earthy wrath and suffered 3 bent piston rods, a cracked piston head, and a lovely $3000 bill for a used motor. Learning my lesson, I haven't just gone out and bought an open filtered intake system due to past events...
suggestions for maybe an alternative but equal intake system? OR are there any experienced drivers with everyday ****ing rain with ztubes & pop chargers... ALSO, I was thinking about making some kind of splash guard for under the ztube and filter for a little extra protection......
THOUGHTS, Input, ideas....
oh and i forgot... im dropping my car with H&R's next week or so - 1.3inch from the ground...

z tube and pop charger is a short ram intake. It stays up by the engine so you won't have any issues with taking in water. CAI, which im sure you know, go down into the lower portion of the bumper and are more prone to sucking in water.
popcharger and ztube will not have that problem, if you buy CAI i would buy the air bypass add on to prevent water getting into the engine.

If you worried that the same would happen with your civic, don't worry. Even a stock intake would have resulted in the same.
But I live in Seattle and have been running the stillen for quite some time. It's in the same location as the JWT and oem.
It's the CAIs down low that you have to worry about and IMHO, for the zero gains they give, there's no reason to use them anyway.

What he said. Get a Z-tube and K&N. From what I've read here, it's as good as any other intake short of FI. BTW, I used to live in Portland. I miss the mountains, but I don't miss 38 degrees and raining for the entire winter. Awesome summers though. Made all the rain worth it.
Gotta agree with the last two posts. Its what I have and if your're worried the sound will be too subdued, dont. Sounds perfect and I get compliments on the sound all the time. (I have the MD spacer, and g middy also) If your going to just do light mods these work as a good combo.
