are the HELIX annoyingly loud or what? I like the sound of BORLA just fine, but are the HELIX test pipes going to make a drastic difference in sound? Don't want it sounding like one of those Acuras rippin around town....

 

I am also wondering the same thing, will it pass inspection?, i'm down in texas, anyone know if they are legal over here?

 

Iw ould also like to know what the last two guys posted!! Are they really obnoxiously loud, and in NY will I pass inspection? Thanks guys!!

Well their have been a ton of threads about test pipe noise on my350Z.com. Any time you think about doing anything to these cars, you should always run a search their first. A ton of owners have commented about hating test pipe rasp. If that community hates the noise of something, buyer beware, they are not a sensitive bunch.

If your going to get test pipes, spend the money you have to to get one's that have resonator's built into them. I know of 3 test pipes that you can get with resonator's, Stillen, Kinetix and Labree.

Hmm interesting, the reason why I posted this Gsedan is because they have a 350Z with a much klouder and deeper exhaust then a G35 Sedan. i just wanted to see if any sedan owner's did this, guess not. Thanks for the input, looks like i'll be looking into the kinetix ones. Martin

Ya after reading that thread i decided not to go with the test pipes, i'll probly go with some high flow Kinetix cats

 

I'll have them on in a week. I am going to be running the Helix testpipes, performance nissan resonated midpipe and stock muffler. Also, I had gutted cats on my '03 Z and it kept the same tone as the stock system while adding more volume. The gutted cats acted as resonated testpipes, but the 350Z has an entirely different muffler design than the sedan, so trial and error is the only way to do it.

yeah... i know that in texas.... unless u know a shop that will pass ANYTHING (i do for instance....), u will fail inspection if u delete the cats. I have a friend looking into a mod for his lightening that has a botton inside the cab of his truck that he can press and the exhaust will dump out before the cats and basicaly run straight headers. He just wants it so that he can make his truck loud as hell sometimes and doesnt have to put up with the sound at all times.
