OEM HR Y-pipe vs aftermarket y-pipe
#16
As for aftermarket y-pipes, I've read of numerous cases of them causing a lack of low rpm throttle response (piping too large most likely), rasp, and even cracking HFCs/TPs/OEM cats because the pipe flex sections or lack of flex sections, torques the cat cases and mounting points.

Dave, why would an aftermarket be any worse if the primaries and outlet are similar to the HR?
To be honest, there are not HR dyno sheets either. And some people are selling aftermarket Ys for the same price used HR units.
The ultimate question is why does the HR seem better? The piping in/outs are similar. But it seems the HR has more consistent piping (less crush bends) and less severe bends. One might argue better collector and merge angles too.
Thing is, aftermarket pipe features the same things, thus should provide the same type of effect.
It's odd that the 2004x features this "HR" Y also.
