Wonder how this would sound with an HKS axle back...

Sounds good man, I still haven't decided what I want to do for exhaust. It's a confusing subject.

yeah i got to thinkin about that so i went for a look haha

from the looks of things it looks like they just stretched one end of it so its a bit wider
idk what they used to do that but both the ends meet up perfectly with the stock exhaust even though they are different widths

idk i only watched him bending the pipe up after he hacked off the resonator then i went to lunch

Lots of people have done this in the past and the general consensus is it's pretty raspy under full throttle (especially letting off from WOT) and there is quite a bit of drone from 1800-2500rpms which is the typical operating range of the automatic. It sounds good during a no load rev, but under load is where all exhaust setups are made or broken.

There's no real power to be gained from removing this resonator. I've had the stock setup, the coupe midpipe which has a super tiny resonator, and then the 05/06 sedan midpipe which has 60% smaller resonator than the 03/04 midpipe. I noticed no performance gains with the midpipes, but god does the 05/06 midpipe sound so good with the 03/04 muffler. No resonating, no drone, no raspiness.

This is a great mod. It's the first thing i did litteraly the day after i bought my Z. I got hooked on it after i pulled my resonator on my Audi TT and turned it into a completely different sounding car!!!

To the OP.....

Unless the Gs have a completely different exhaust (which they don't) i wanna see this 50lb resonator on a scale. LOL
I still have mine from the Z and it weighs maybe 5 lbs. soaking wet!
