Sedan Mid-Pipe Resonator removed

so i'm pretty new to the forums and i don't post much so i figured i'd put this up

i just had a performance muffler shop remove the mid resonator and run an new S-bend in there and so its all stock exhaust except for a missing resonator
it shaves off a good 40lbs and added a very sporty sound with hardly any effect to the cruising volume
here is a pic of the resonator
Name: 100_1529.jpg

and a video with the exhaust sound

i'm planning on getting headers, aftermarket cats, and a new (bigger) Y-pipe built with possibly a cutout
idk what to do with the muffler i'm still thinking about that

comments and suggestions (good or bad) are Very welcome

Sounds good now. Start adding those headers and hfcs and the sound will get loud and raspy. I went through it.. and then went back.

I tried that too, and it was kinda too loud for me, so I welded 350z resonator. Basically a coupe mid-pipe. The noise from no resinator kinda reminded me of stromung mufflers back in min 90's.

just 50 bucks
all it is is an S pipe welded in to replace it
2.5"

its kind of loud around 2k rpm but it still has its sophisticated sound and not the ricer sound that those fart cans give you

sounds kinda v8'ish imo

well its just a pipe replacing the resonator
and the pipe is at a slight S bend so it lines up correctly without sharp bends
here is a bad picture for you :P

you can see the fresh pipe is where its replaced

Very interesting. Did you notice if this mod produced more drone for you? Are you a 03-04 or a 05-06 sedan?

EDIT - looks like a 03-04 resonator in your pic.

yeah 03

and i'd say it does produce some drone but its worth it for when i give it more than half throttle
and the idle is just SEXY

I see that the front is flanged into the y pipe, but how is the rear done? just a collar joining the 2 pipes or welded up tight?

Just listened to the clip... sounds great! Do you still ahve that old resonator layin around? and could maybe take some inlet to outlet measurements of it???

i didn't do it for power just a better noise
but i'd assume it would gain like 2-5 whp because it frees up some back pressure

no its completely bearable because its only when i'm accelerating slowly and when i'm just maintaining a speed there is no drone

yeah its just chopped out and a pipe put in so the whole mid section has the same flanges as the car would stock from the back of the y pipe to the muff

and yeah i still have the resonator shown in the pick
the inlet (the wider side of the resonator box is the in side) is 2.5" and the outlet is 2"

interested buyer?
