Brand New Sedan Exhaust!

Just picked up the new HKS Sport exhaust. And Installed it also. Sounds a little more Deep that stock. Have to wait till morning to see how it does on the road. Should get a little more Louder and Deeper after the muffler breaks in er burns in. It's not a full cat back system like the Greddy. However I was Highly dissapointed In the way I was treated by Greddy. I have been in the Automotive Industry for over 18 years. I called Greddy to find out when their EVO Exhaust was going to be back in stock. OH DUE TO COMPANY POLICY WE CANNOT DIVULGE ANY INFORMATION TO YOU AS THE PUBLIC. WE ONLY CAN TELL YOU IF YOU ARE ONE OF OUR APPROVED DEALERS. WTF?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called HKS What a Difference!!! The Tech Guy was Very Helpfull, Did some checking on his computer, Told me Yes they did Just get in stock the G-35 Sedan exhaust, And I could order one Today. Retail price is $495.00 Part number is HKS 32008-BN001 So I ordered one from my Connection, They already had one in stock =) Besides the only other Sedan Exhaust to have DUAL TIPS (The Nismo) Greddy and Stillen only have SINGLE TIP Looking like a Toyota Corolla exhaust to me. After all Nissan gave the Stock exhaust Dual tips. Oh I did ask the HKS tech guy why only the Muffler and not the whole Cat back piping like Greddy. He said they did during prototypes but the center piping DID NOT produce Extra HP on the DYNO. Just my 2 cents..... A Very Happy HKS convert. I have had 3 diffrent Greddy exhausts on my Past 2 cars But NEVER AGAIN!!!

I don't see dual tips on their site. This is the HKS Sport Exhaust, but only has a big single tip...hmmm...any pix of your muff? Is it at all loud? Compared to the GReddy EVO, since I think that system is way too loud. Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing it's the one in picture R-2. Kinda looks smaller than the stock tips IMO.

Re: Brand New Sedan Exhaust!

I swear this forum sometimes eats my posts. I asked this question an hour ago, and it's disappeared.

The stock muffler is a variable-capacity muffler. The left tip is the only one expelling gas at low rpms, and the right one opens up when you get on the throttle. I understand that this is supposed to reduce noise at idle, and improve low-end torque.

Is the HKS muffler a variable-capacity muffler?

Re: Brand New Sedan Exhaust!

Rumble,
It looks exactly like the picture. But instead of a single tip it has dual tips. The tips are angled, if you look at the stock exhaust both tips are straight, however the rear bumper cover is angled out towards the center of the car, thus the Stock tip on the right is centered under the cover while the left tip sticks out. On the HKS its angled to correct this, Giving the exhaust a uniform look. I hope I'm making sense. Hope this helps. NV-35

Ryoken,
From the looks of it the HKS is a straight through design. I Guess I could call back HKS and ask them.

Pictures of the exhaust off your car would be nice.

After reading that post again, I think I know what you are talking about. When you look at the tips from a birds eye view, right? HKS made the tips to sorta match the rear bumper?

Rumble,
Yeah from the Birds eye view. It slants out to follow the bumper. It's not my car actually, My Dad has the credit. However I will very shortly get a G of my very own. I still have to sell my CL Type-S. Yes I was a Honda Freak, However I Lost ALL Confidence in them due to the SORRY Trannys in those cars. Well actually the V-6's I kinda miss my Toy car, 93' Civic Coupe with 2.2 liter Prelude motor conversion with Quaife LSD, Full Race Head and 100 shot of NOS. Some stole it.......... Well Here's to a Future Hope fully a G-35 6MT Coupe, If Not a Not at all Bad compromise 6MT Sedan......

Re: Brand New Sedan Exhaust!

Since this exhaust is not full cat-back and HKS has a Sport exhaust made for the G35 Sedan, I'm guessing this is axle back right? Does it have a short pipe after the muffler portion to be directly bolted on to the stock exhaust pipes of the G35? It is still a tad pricey for just an axle back muff, but then again it is HKS. sheesh!!

It doesn't even say HKS on the tips. Booooooooo-urns!!
