High idle after TB cleaning
Don't overlook battery V and ambient temp requirements for the IAV learning procedure, check the FSM. Too cold out or too hot external temps makes it very difficult to get it to work. If you don't turn off the items listed in FSM procedure, the battery may not be strong enough for the test. Seems like a lot of these problems are kicking in on cars with 50-60k miles and/or 5 years old. The irony is you car has to be running well to get the process to work even though most of the process occurs with the motor OFF, otherwise your timing will crawl in and out of bounds, or if the base idle is more than about 50 rpm above or below 650 rpm, it gets harder to make it work.
OMG, i finally got it! After roughly 40-50 times! I dunno how I did it, but after the final step of the procedure, I restarted it, and viola , from 1400rpm to 600rmp idle. just got back from testing it at the 405fwy for about 10miles, I gunned it and damn, I'm so friggin happy! No more high idle, and no more lag!
high idle 1k
the relearn processes arent working guys i cleaned my tb and had this prob high idle about 1 k and u feel the car is always as if ur foot is on the gas pedal even when ur rolling pedal free...any ideas?
Have you checked for vacuum leak ? While car is idling spray carburetor cleaner around TB mounting flange area and seen if the idle comes down. ALso check all the fittings around MAF to ensure thiers no un metered air entering. Not sure of your set up, this is posted in an older thread.
you guys are hight on crack.
There is nothing wrong with cleaning a TB.
Do it right and it'll be alright.

I didn't take the tb off and I left the connector on when I cleaned my tb, which might have caused my high idle issue. Lesson learned. Still trying the relearn, but most likely I have to send it in.
Don't get the new tb unless you're sure it's faulty. I've read some people still couldn't fix high idle after they replace their tb.

I cleaned my TB and guess what..... Code p0507
I can believe that a simple task that i did millions times on my other cars will be such a pain on this car. I wish I read the warning on this site before I cleaned it. Nice work Nissan
I’ll try discounting the battery overnight – I hope it will fix the problem.

I'm not sure why so many seem to have problems... I've cleaned mine several times (as recently as 3 weeks ago in fact ) and all but the first time were problem free... first time correction was the idle air and accelerator relearn procedure (found in various threads all overbthis site) .
I've mentioned it many times - as long as you disconnect battery, then unplug TB accuator and unbolt - you can clean it with no problem (moving the butterfly plate full swing) and reinstall in reverse order it will fire right up with normal idle.
Either some people have ultra sensitive TB or they are dropping the thing - or just not doing the basic steps.
G35CO, I don't k ow the code off top of my head, but I presume its high idle... did you do the relearn procedure?

I believe that many people, like myself, didn't realize it's crucial to disconnect the battery and TB harness before moving the butterfly plate; in my case, during my research I found the DIY threads and videos easily, but I don't recall any of those emphasizing those pre-cautionary steps. Until I finished cleaning and got P0507 code, then I found others with the same issue, and realized that there were important steps omitted. The damage is already done.
May I suggest that we sticky this issue? Put the topic like "stop and read this before cleaning your throttle body" in Tech or DIY area, so our fellow drivers can be better informed. It's a simple step that could prevent TB actuator getting out of calibration. Just my .02.

I disconnect the battery but didn’t unplug it. I agree with ray1370, we need to make it a sticky. If I read the warning I would follow the right steps or maybe don’t touch it at all.
If I buy a new TB will that fix the problem or I will still need to do the relearn steps?
