MD 5/16 report and thanks
Installed the basic MD 5/16" spacer today and boy am I happy. Very noticeable gains in acceleration and throttle response. Money well spent. It was really easy, took only an hour from start to finish. I have been reading about the install for a month so I felt prepared. If you don't know me know that it's a small miracle I did it, I am not mechanically inclined at all. I used the great DIY's on here for help.
For those of you that are thinking "Why did he post this crap" FO
J/K. The main reason I started this thread was to throw a big thanks out to bythabay and fishouse for their awesome DIY's and to KSU1998 for selling me the spacer. Without these guys, today wouldn't have happened. If there is anyone out there thinking about this mod, it should be one of the first performance mods you do. I would highly recommend the Motordyne spacer over the other choices. Tony at MD is a guy I trust to make great products and to stand behind what he sells. That's more important to me than price could ever be. Plus they have several options to choose from. I live in Texas so the basic spacer works fine for me.
Thanks for listening, I've gotta go drive the car some more.
Peace...

did you disconnect the coolant lines to remove the top half of the plenum completely or did you just prop the top half up with something while you slid the spacer in?

I propped the upper plenum open with a bungee cord. Just made sure the throttle body wasn't resting on anything. Got the idea from a DIY from fishouse. Worked like a charm. The only 2 hoses I had to disconnect were the hose on the ztube and the vacuum hose on the battery side of the upper plenum.
I got the spacer in the mail yesterday but had to work. Started this morning at 7:30 and was completely done by 8:30.

links to DIY? also is the 5/16 spacer best option for 05 sedan cause i know there are other diff size spacers too. Also did you notice a deeper growl?

This is the one I liked the best; myG35mods.com. There is also a sticky in the G spot forum that has a ton of DIY videos by bythabay that are awesome. Use the search function when you can't find something, it is great. I'll make you search for the spacer answer. It is one of the most widely talked about topics on here.
Didn't really notice a difference in sound, bigger difference with the z tube.

My install took about 4 hours. That's only 1 hour of actual work, three hours trying to get a hold of the bolt that my buddy dropped down in the engine
I didn't notice any difference at all in pull or sound, unfortunately.

Very good mod! I highly recommend it and like everyone says...reset your ECU before you take your car out for a spin. It helps the car pickup the gains right away.
Took me a few miles before my G finally noticed it had a new toy to play with but when it did heh.... heh.... heh

has anyone ever just done an ECU reset with no new mods and noticed an increase in performance? Im wondering if its mental, or if you "train" the ECU to a faster driving style.
Cuz supposedly you need an ECU reset with SxExCxs grounding kit too. Reason i ask is because i want a grounding kit, but I am skeptical that scientifically, it can actually help.
