any exhaust that will keep stock sound?

Im trying to find any exhaust setup that will gain me few horsepower, and still keeps the stock G35 sound. I can't get rid of stock infiniti sound. Personally, I think other sound than stock on G35 makes car sound like a riced out honda.

I agree with you. Had an X02 for awhile and got rid of it b/c I hated how ricey it made me sound. I have heard of people gettin rid of the muffler that sits right behind the bumper and replacing it with straight pipes but I haven't heard what it sounds like.

i cant speak for myself, cause i havent heard one in person, but a LOT of people on here say that the Fast Intentions exhaust sounds like "stock on steroids".... and i seem to agree with that based on the youtube vids

I have the FI exhaust and it does not sound like stock at all. It has its own distinct sound to it. Sounds very exotic. When you add HFCs, it wakes up and the sound is louder. I posted a few clips last week. Search and thou shall find

As for me, I've decided that I like the stock sound better and it would be easier to sell the exhaust instead of wrestling to remove my HFCs and try to find some stock cats again. Just so I can quiet down the exhaust

Another exhaust you may want to check out is the Greddy Spectrum Elite axel back. That one sounds close to stock and looks great.

Before you upgrade exhausts, you may want to stop by the HR Y pipe thread and look into getting some high flow cats.

When I did both, my stock exhaust became the exhaust it should have been stock. The sound is amazing. Not too loud, but fuller and more of that VQ gurgle sound many other car owners have grown to love and envy.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm in the same boat you're in now too. Just a little bit further ahead

You know what, here's a clip of my car on the mustang "heart breaker" dyno @ SP this past weekend...check it out...

My 5AT came in just under 250whp with my current mods and w/o an Osiris tune. If I had that I can probably open up another 20+whp or so

Sounds great. I am planning on adding the Osiris tune in June. I"m lucky to have UpRev here in Austin, went to see Richard there yesterday and left very impressed. Will put my girl on the dyno for a couple of hours to tweak it "just right". I can't wait!!!

Exhausts dont add that much HP to your car in the first place. Why would you want to spend extra money on an aftermarket exhaust to sound like stock? IMO use the money on something else if you already prefer the stock sound.

Exhausts don't add much HP.....try saying that in the FI forum and see what happens Exhausts play their part also. In some cases, the exhaust can make or break your setup. It all depends on what you're trying to do with your car and performance goals.

Nice! I'm looking into Osiris as an FI option down the road. Maybe even combining it with a Utec for the extra features the Utec comes with for added safety. Keep us posted. I want to see how your car turns out!

Sorry? What lack of knowledge? Op never said anything about going FI. He wants an exhaust to add a few HP, but wants to keep the stock sound. Lucky for him that he is happy with the sound already, unlike most people who go w/ aftermarket. IMO use the money on other mods to gain some HP. Aftermarket exhausts usually are more for looks and sound before they are for HP for us N/A guys.

But like SDGenius said Fujitsubo sounds pretty close to stock!

if your f.i. exhaust is everything. if your n/a youll pick up a couple of ponies at the wheel,(2-8) depending on your mods, AND you may actually lose hp/tq at certain rpm's. so it really comes down to what part of your power band do you want to improve.

With my Berks HFCs, my MD 5/16th Iso Spacer and Fast Intentions Intimidator, my 5AT put down 248whp on the Mustang Heart breaker dyno @ SP 4/25/09

If I used a different dyno & had a 6MT, the #s would've been a little higher. If I had Osiris, the #s would be even higher maybe another 20-25whp alone

Here's the video
