What's up guys? I have been doing some research on the internet and was reading about the kinetix plenum and the MD Spacer. Yesterday I came across a really good deal on a MD spacer and a kinetix plenum that was for sale that was stripped off a G35, and they sold the both to me very cheap. I have been reading and I'm thinking should I only install one or install both? From my understanding the both as a combo will NOT Help the car out more than just having one mod installed? Any help on this subject guys?

 

it will be like stacking 2 spacers together. Too much plenum volume and will likely lose hp. there is a reason why motordyne doesn't offer a 1" spacer.

 

So my best bet would be to sell my kinetix and keep the polished plenum I have and go with the MD spacer, right?

 

That's what I would do. However, I know more about spacers than I do aftermarket plenums.

 

Sorry. The spacer and Kinetix cannot be combined.

The Kinetix has a central support column that must rest against the lower plenum. If a spacer is installed, the column is lifted and loses its critical support. You don't want that to happen.

The only option is one or the other.

 

ok, sure I will go with the MD Spacer then, I got the Plenum and Spacer off a G before, he had both on the car. Obviously he didn't know what he was doing at the time, lol. Oh well! Also Hydrazine....when I install this plenum spacer do you know what the steps/procedures are to reset the ECU, cause I was reading around and I'm understanding you have to reset the ECU when you do this install.

 

You don't have to reset the ECU. It can sometimes wakeup the ECU but its not required.

can someone tell me which one is better and why? im about to buy either 5/16 spacer or the kinetix v+ manifold, but some people tell me that the manifold is better and some other say the spacer is better.. i cant make my decision! i would like the one that actually helps me yield as much hp as possible

 

IIRC the MD spacer made more HP in a dyno test, possibly by Tony at MD. However, the difference will be negligible at best either way, you won't feel the difference in the car's performance. I personally like the spacer better, but I'm also rocking a chromed OEM plenum that looks 1000 times better than the Kinetix plenum IMO.

 

In my case is the ugly looking stock manifold.. even though i can use the cover but i really dont care, i just want the one that yields the most power... which is the best size? 5/16? btw is it hard to install? do i need to use torque wrench or something?

 

Out of all the spacers and manifolds tested by Nissan Sport Magazine, the 5/16" spacer made the highest average power gains. The 1/2" spacer made the second most averaged power gains with the highest peak gain.

Motordyne took both 1st and 2nd place with both of its parts submitted to the independent test.

And the installation is easy. 1.5 hours is typical. About 95% of the people who buy them install it themselves.

On a scale of 1-10 in difficulty I'd give the install a 2 if you don't take off the throttle body. And yes, an in/lb torque wrench is recommended.

 

Ok, i think im decided lol! which size do you guys think is best? is there any way that i can install without torque wrench? i don't have one neither know how to use it :/

 

Yes you can install it w/o a torque wrench, I have done 4 installs that way. Just follow the directions that MD will send you and use a nut driver to hand tighten the bolts. I've got the 5/16" spacer and am happy with it.

 

ok, so, if i buy the simple 5/16 spacer, not the iso thermal one, its just remove the upper part of the plenum put the spacers and tighten everything back up? do i need to buy any gaskets or anything? sorry for asking so much im about to buy the 5/16 spacer but i want to be 100% sure of everything
