y-pipe rattling

y-pipe rattling

today i put my g on my 4 post lift to check a rattling noise.when i decelerate,between 3-2 thousand rpm the y pipe makes a rattling noise.i removed the heat shield.(i thought that was the problem).but it still rattles.it sounds like its coming from inside the pipe?anyone run into this problem.the car came with test pipes.everything else is stock.could this be the problem?or do i need a new y-pipe or test pipe??..any help would be appreciated!

It's the test pipes, not the y-pipe. It's not a rattle you're hearing. It's just the nature of the VQ exhaust note when you remove the cats. It's a common noise to hear and is mistakeningly noted as metal rattling. I know the sound and it really does sound like a metallic rattle, but it's not. The fix is adding more resonators or going with HFCs or stock cats.

so if i were to install megan test pipes the rattle noise will go away?megan has a built in resonator on ther test pipes...

It will help a little, but it will still be there. HFCs will reduce it quite a bit.

would stock cats stop this noise completely????
