Re: Magnaflow Ti exhaust

Sen_Jen,

This is directly from a MagnaFlow rep (Director of Marketing)... looks like they won't be producing the Ti exhaust for the G35 for a while...

"Still on hold....a year at least, I'm told now, due to other priorities. Thus far, we've had only 4 inquiries for the G35 ti system...they're not convinced there's enough demand to tool up to run 25 pieces when we're selling 2,000 cat back systems a month for Mustangs. "

Oh well... I was in line for one of these, until about a month ago when this news was dropped on me...

Re: Magnaflow Ti exhaust

thanks for the quick response. hopefully they will "act as if!!!!" nah, hopefully they start a couple and make it mainstream. i think with all the G's being sold, they could make a killin' if it's what they're saying it is/gonna be.

Re: Magnaflow Ti exhaust

i dont know abou tmaking a killing... the fact that the VQ35 really doesnt respond well to mods kind of affects the aftermarket on them in my opinion. I know that i would not want to dump 2k+ on exhaust (im guessing thats what the TI would cost) if it was only going to lose 45 lb's over stock and yield hp gains that i could get out of a 35lb heavier exhaust for 750.... i realize that for some of the hardcore modders this would be an option... but we dont own supras or something. Our cars just will never be mod friendly with the VQ (even the Twin turbos)..... now all i want is an RB or SR swap for cheap somehow haha that would be badass. Im gonna see an SR20 350z on sunday probably (hoping the Z comes to this drift meet)

Re: Magnaflow Ti exhaust

Ti is not the best with heat cycling as well. The welds tend to suffer from metal fatgue(sp). Hey if you want though see if you can talk them into it...you can't be the only one wanting it.

Re: Magnaflow Ti exhaust

For me, a tremendous (relatively speaking) weight reduction from the exhaust system alone is just what the G needs. Aside from going FI, there isn't all that much power to be had (cheaply/easily, at least) from this engine. That's all the more reason why weight savings becomes an issue of importance. Why settle for a 20hp bump when you can increase the effect of that gain WITHOUT adding the additional stress to the engine?

A modest power increase and reasonable weight reduction is what I'll be shooting for.

But to stay OT, I'd have to say that I'd never be able to spend $2K on a magnaflow exhaust. Never been a big fan of them or Borla.

Re: Magnaflow Ti exhaust

This exhaust is actually made by JIC for flowmaster. Very similar to the JIC system.

Congratulations! You have just won 1 million punches in the face!

Re: Magnaflow Ti exhaust

I meant made for magnaflow, not flowmaster.
They're both big on American cars so I get confused.
