Re: Kinetix cats.

Well, I've already got the grounding kit, lightweight pullies, lightweight flywheel, and dual exhaust. So I think that the cats and plenum should be good for me right now (except for the TS ECU upgrade.). Besides, I don't tink my wife will go for anything bigger, like FI.

Re: Kinetix cats.

I'm thinking about the cats and plenum as well. Have all of the fitment issues with the cats been worked out?

Re: Kinetix cats.

Kinetix says they have. They say they have bought new tooling. But, I still read about recent fitment issues. What I do know, is that I have never read about any fitment issues with the Crawfords, and mine fit perfectly, and the workmanship was top notch.

Re: Kinetix cats.

I'm researching the crawfords, I haven't been able to find any majors problems with them yet, though they are more expensive that Kinetix. But if they can assure proper fitment, it's worth it. It does make me somewhat nervous that they make their own cats in shop though, but then again I don't know exactly what is involved in making a catalytic converter. This is where the fact that Kinetix uses Magnaflow cats makes me feel a bit more confident in them ... more research to be done.

Re: Kinetix cats.

Crawford doesn't make the cat body, they buy them (I'm sorry, I forget from who). They do the same as Kinetix, and use a commercial hi-flow cat, and weld piping and fittings to it to fit the car. It fits the "Z" and the "G".

Re: Kinetix cats.

Cool, after researching what goes into a cat I figured that there was no way that they were fabricating the guts. I emailed Crawford to find out who their manufacturer is. Any chance that it is Carsound? If not I'll have to research their manufacturer a bit. They use the ceramic elements right?

I guess Crawford is responding to your "E" Mail. They are Walker Hi-Flows.

They are in fact ceramic. I could not find anything listed about them at the Walker website.

Re: Kinetix cats.

Randy, the Crawfords are better cats than the Kinetix IMHO. They do not rasp. As lowrider stated, it is well documented in my350z.com that the kinetix have fitment issues. As far as customer service, it is day and night between the 2. Doug will respond to you, while Kinetix will not. BTW, this is well documented also in my350z.com and is my own personal experience.
Regarding raspiness, the RT cats are known to produce it as well as the honeycomb getting blown out. Not the Crawfords or the Kinetix. I am a hybrid owner. I have the kinetix plenum and the Crawford cats. I am crossing my fingers that the V4 plenum will not crack in the future as previous versions have. These are my 3 cents!!!

Re: Kinetix cats.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm leaning towards the Crawford cats and the Kinetix plenum. I just wish that the Crawford plenum was more reasonably priced.

And now for some vain silliness...

Re: Kinetix cats.

Sorry for the protocol error, and you taking exception to it??

Anyway, as far as the price for the plenum goes, remember - "you only get what you pay for." I know I got that right.

No, I thought that you were correcting my post. Maybe I completely misunderstood. Sorry about that.

Re: Kinetix cats.

there is the new ASP plenum coming out soon. why not wait and find out more about that...maybe it'll drive down Crawford's price.

How about it will run them out of business as far as their plenum is concerned. If it is aluminum made and the price is around $370 as some speculate, then there is no reason whatsover to go with Crawford. Kinetix is also researching dropping their existing design for an aluminum one.
