With headers you are talking at a max 2-5whp if anything at all vs just a tune. It is really about if you want to spend 1k+ for such minimal gains. Aftermarket headers for the most part a pretty much garbage.....there are a very few (tomei, sg (not in production), and crawford) which are worth buying. Problem is you are going to spend ~1500 with them installed. You will not see the full benefit of headers unless you have full breather mods, and head work (cams at the very least) to move an increased volume of air. Otherwise the stock headers are plenty efficient for the amount of air a stock long block DE (non rev and rev-up).

I'm a noob at all this. Which bolt-ons? A quick Google didn't help much and what is fd???

I guess I deleted them, but for an HR stick to high flow filters, high flow cats (or test pipes with non foulers), exhaust, and a tune via osiris. FD= Final Drive.....it is the gear set in the rear pumpkin. Higher the FD (i.e 4.08's) the shorter the gears.

Here is a breakdowns down the difference fairly well (courtesy of my350z.com)
Here is a break down of the STOCK gear ratio's

1st Gear Ratio: 3.794:1
2nd Gear Ratio: 2.324:1
3rd Gear Ratio: 1.624:1
4th Gear Ratio: 1.271:1
5th Gear Ratio: 1.000:1
6th Gear Ratio: 0.794:1
-Reverse Ratio: 3.446:1

This is calculated using 255/45/17 Tires

Thanks!

There's a performance tuning shop in my area. I'll run this stuff by them.

Keep in mind that many shops don't tune Osiris and will likely lead you towards buying something that are more familiar with and or tune with. Osiris is bar none the best tuning tool for G/Z's. Installing an FD is a specialized job also that requires tools that are not always had by smaller shops.

Just FYI.

I was afraid of that. The shop near me is a dealer for the Cobb line. From what I've read around here Osiris is the better product. If these guys don't have that experience I'll look elsewhere. (I'm in So Cal, and patient. I have no intention of rushing into this.)

I know Church does Osiris in SoCal, his rates are the lowest I have seen (550), and he has one of the happiest dyno's I have ever seen. So you will put out a HUGE number lol. I wouldn't pay attention to the peak number, but more so on the gains and far better partial throttle. Church has been around for a while and they have a pretty good rep.

Cool.....get it tuned once you get your bolt-ons done and you will be very happy.

Thanks very much 03threefiftyz. You've given me plenty to chew on.

Parenthetically, I was hoping to do some kind of FI, someday, but in So-Kal on an '08 (at this time) it's unfortunately not possible (and stay legal).

They do Osiris too.......don't do cobb. There is a reason that almost everyone who buys one....one month later it is FS in the marketplace.

On the REVUP engine, the MREV2 will always make a "minimum" of 15HP/18TQ in the upper midrange.

It was my mistake Tony (I deleted a bunch of posts).....I thought he had an HR. He's on the right track. It should be noted that non-rev makes minimal sacrifices up top.....though some would lead you to believe otherwise. The evidence in favor of the ported non-rev (mrev2) is overwhelming positive.
