My "Ghetto Intake"

As weird as this may look (I'll post pics later.), I was able to get a mean sound, without losing any low end power/torque for around $30. I got a cone filter from Advanced Auto Parts, 3" PVC from Lowe's, and a 2" to 3" rubber coupler. Using the stock airbox's back part only, push the 2" end of the rubber coupler into to intake tubing. It will fit very snuggily, but trust me it will fit and not budge. For extra protection use a sealer or epoxy. Then take a 3-4" section of PVC and push it into the 3" end of the rubber and use a hose clamp to hold it in place. Now just clamp on the cone and take it for a drive. Passed 4500rpms it sounds awesome and right as you shift (spiritedly at redline ) it will sound vicious. My car has a Z-tube and Skunk 2 3/8" spacer on i right now. This intake setup sounds wicked! As I said, I will post pics in the morning.

yeah I remember a post about that.

Where is that guy?

I wonder if he had to take the car to the plumber for maintenance.

I used the rev up v-stack from a Z and put into my oem airbox. Not really custom.

The only custom airbox I could see being worth doing is to completely seal off the one open side of the stillen unit. Although even that side isn't open to the engine bay.

Or a custom boxed unit of one of the aftermarket cone synthetic fiber filters.
