Z-tube not lining up right?

Hey guys - new here. my girl has an '05 G35 sedan (AT). just this weekend i installed a stillen air intake with the z-tube. the sound is great, and the throttle response is a small bit improved, so we're happy about that.

the only thing is the z-tube didn't seem to seat/line up right. if i kept the breather tube bung on the bottom of the tube (like the stock piece sat) the back of the tube didn't seem to connect to the rear coupler (to the intake mani) well - it was like it hit the coupler at an angle instead of being straight in. if i adjusted it so the rear coupler connected straight on, the breather hole was in the top of the tube and the breather line had a hard time reaching. also, the connection to the MAS seemed to not line up well.

i think i am going to play with it a little more to see if i can get things to line up better, but i wanted to see if anyone had experienced something like this with the z-tube. as is, everything is sealed and tight, it just doesn't seem to line up easily like i assumed it would.

thanks in advance - i look forward to learning a bunch about these cars, as i come from the audi/vw world.

-JK

Are you using the OEM z-tube or Stillen z-tube?

The "stock" location of the breather tube is on the top.

It is on the bottom with the OEM z-tube.

Here is a picture of the Stillen z-tube. The breather tube is still on the bottom.

I'm thinking that you have the tube installed reversed.

thanks a ton for the quick response.

i am using the Stillen z-tube. i think, unlike the OEM z-tube, it uses both flexible couplers like the stock G sedan tube. the stillen part is a hard plastic with no flexibility.

i must have remembered the stock location of the breather tube incorrectly. i probably need to try it with the breather tube sitting up top again, like the stock pipe sits.

i've searched for a pic specifically with the stillen z-tube installed, but no luck (tons of z-tube pics, but none of the stillen part). unfortunately the pics in the instructions were only of the intake - they didn't address the z-tube installation whatsoever, so i was kinda on my own lol.

The last two pics I posted are of the Stillen z-tube, both with the Stillen airbox.

The breather tube should be on the bottom.

The accordion coupler should be between the z-tube and MAF housing.

Both coupe and sedans are the same.

Make sure your aftermarket intake is clearing the Metal piping that's related to the AC system.

Its mounted right next to the Air box, on the driver side, its bright silver you cant miss it. If your Aftermarket Intake is rubbing on it, or has very little clearance I would by some foam, rubber to wrap around it, so you dont have any issues.

I used to have the stillen ztube, the breather port is on the bottom, facing the back of the car.

the car is with my girl at work, so i can't snap a pic now. i'll fiddle with it a little more and apply some solution to the AC line issue. i'll post up some pics after getting things sorted. thanks again.
